Signing over rights

Anyone have experience with this? If ManChild ends up dipping out for good after he is given my counter proposal/court/etc., my next thing will be to ask him to sign over rights. I'm curious if anyone has experience with this, if it means no child support, etc. I don't know if he will actually do it, but I'm thinking it will be easier when it comes to end of life stuff. She would auto go with her grandparents I'm sure...esp if it was in writing like in a will.

I think it depends on your state. In IL, I couldn't have BD sign over his rights unless I had someone to fill his role as father. So I just kept him off the BC

My dad was never listed on my birth certificate. Not sure what that means...

I just looked up a little on this and it does vary by state. I'm getting a lot of "no longer have to pay child support" and a mention that the judge can still order it. I'm guessing that's a rarity. Also seeing that it does vary by state and sometimes there has to be someone else stepping up to be the father before a father can relinquish. Sounds a lot more complicated than I hoped.

Yeah, anything with the law is going to be complicated Especially when it comes to families and children.

Leaving BD off the BC restricts me from getting CS until there is a paternity test and he signs (or if he signs willingly) but I'm not interested in his drug money.  It also means that, for my will, I don't have to acknowledge his family for her care if something happens to me. Which I didn't.

Whoa, seriously? Pedophiles don't lose their parental rights?? PEDOPHILES? you should talk to your state senator (or is it congressman/woman?) about getting that changed. The fuck? If BD and I were married and he was a pedophile (which he sometimes JOKED about being, though I wonder now how much of that was a joke), I would be calling someone like "this ain't right."

Wow. I guess I didn't think about court costs. You should set up a fundly account. Advertise what you plan on doing with the money and try to find people who will donate to the cause. That's what we did for my friend who's wife was murdered. He had no way to pay a reward to find the killer but his best friend set up an account I. There and we raised $20,000 in about 3 hours.

Yeah its a blessing and a curse that he's on BC. Blessing because I will get CS more easily, curse bc the rights it comes with. Whatever. Whats done is done.
