Re: ~~~ Pact Grads Check In ~~~

  • Had my NT this week. Everything looked great! It was awesome to see the baby wiggling around. It's weird to see it and not feel it.

The baby is measuring a week ahead. It's impossible that I'm actually a week further along based on when we DTD. Am I going to have a huge kid? O was 7lbs 1oz at 3 weeks early so I guess he would have been big had he come on time.

We had some sunshine today so we got out of the house like normal people. I feel like a whole new woman.

  • Nothing new or exciting. Just feeling worse. Still haven't thrown up, just like I could at any moment most of the day. With DS eating helped, this time that makes it worse.

  • Not much to report. I'm feeling somewhat normal most days. I'm feeling baby a couple times a day. Can't wait til it's stronger! No appointments this week. My spotting finally went away a few days ago and hasn't shown up again. Yay!

Oliversmommy - Babies have growth spurts.I wwouldn't worry about it. I'm assuming you are around 12 weeks since you just had your NT. The measurements are more accurate earlier. Don't let them change your EDD if you plan on not being induced. :)

I was measuring 5 days ahead at the 7 week scan, too.

I definitely won't let them change my EDD. Thankfully, I see a CPM, and she believes me and my dates over the scans anyway. Much different than my experience last time! She will let me go to 43 weeks before inducing as long as everything looks OK. (God forbid... 43 weeks pregnant in September sounds like a nightmare!) But, since Ollie came early, she thinks it's likely this one will, too, so going too far overdue is something I hopefully won't have to worry about!

  • That's awesome that she will let you go that long! Not that I wish that on anyone! Haha.

I would love to not be rushed. My doctor is all for the VBAC I want, but I can't go past 41, which I think is fair.

I still don't quite believe my EDD from the early ultrasound I had. It's a full week off from the temp shift on my chart. Hopefully therewon't be a need for any induction talk. But DH did not understand at all why I would want to argue with the doctor about it if it came down to an induction, and their EDD is a week ahead of what I thought. Sometimes I wish he would not listen to the doctors so much. Same with our pedi...

DH is the opposite! He needs SO MUCH convincing when the docs want to do anything. I was induced with G, and I have high blood pressure, so there has been mention of another induction being possible. DH is 100% against it. He thinks the induction is why I had the difficult labor and complications that I had with G (which I don't necessarily disagree with). I wouldn't mind so much if he could make it to my appts and help fight, but I'm normally going in there by myself, and I end up feeling like a middle man.

  • We're having another boy! Everything on the scan looked good, which was a huge relief since I am a worrywart. I'm so excited! I told DH that I'll need to finish the NB stash now, and he said, "Sure, whatever you need." Woohoo! DS2 is measuring a little big, but since DS1 also did, the drdidnt mention anything about changing my EDD.
Yay for team blue Jane!!!  Congrats!  It still melts my heart when I think about my boys growing up together and doing brother things.  So fun.

  • We're heading to Disneyland today! I'm so excited and so is DH. I think this week has been the best I've felt all pregnancy, so I'm just hoping it stays that way while on vacation.

I got my PIMP Mama Cloth sample last week and I think I'm really gonna love it! I haven't used it yet but last night I had my first snizz incident so I think maybe stocking up on a few liners before the end of my pregnancy might not be a bad idea.

I love PIMP, I'm not sure if there's a huge cost difference, but id stock up in smalls vs liners. They are the same size, but actually have some absorbent part. The liners don't have any. I don't think the smalls are bulky either.

  • Elle- High blood pressure is a good reason for induction, especially if it is preeclampsia. I had a very mild case of preeclampsia at the end and my blood pressure skyrocketed while being induced. I'm so glad we didn't fight for one more week.

  • Not much new here...still ex-haus-ted. And suddenly horribly uncomfortable like I wasn't until the last few weeks last time. Anxious to have my appt on Thursday and find out if LO is still breech or has flipped....

@oliversmommy32912 I measured 8 days behind at my 7 week (which turned into 6 week) dating ultrasound.  But now at both my 26 and 28 week appointments, my fundal height has measured 2 weeks ahead which can also be "normal" but who knows which was the correct one or if these LOs just go through growth spurts at different times.  It makes me not want to take any of it seriously.

As for my update…I've been having a case of the "poor me"s for about my whole 2nd trimester.  Now as I hit 3rd, shit really hit the fan. Here's the saga:
I passed a 7mm kidney stone last week.  THAT was awful, but after the ER was no help with…*anything* (seriously they wouldn't even give me IV fluids), I went to my OB/midwives triage three days later after my family doctor wouldn't see me and still no progress, and my midwife actually admitted me overnight and had the "we're going to FIX you" attitude.  I actually had to let them know I was ready to be discharged the morning after I passed it, it seemed like they were in no hurry to let me leave, just wanted me to be comfortable and pain free.  It was so nice, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and relief after being in pain for four days with nobody seeming to care.  I should've known to go there first.  Lesson learned:  the ER and my general practitioner (military hospital) do NOT want anything to do with pregnant women.  Apparently.
Aside from the medical ordeal, as a FTM, it was really cool for me and DH to kinda get a trial run staying the night in the maternity wing where I'll deliver.  I just hope I get nurses half as nice as I had this time, they were seriously amazing!!
But then I stupidly let them do my glucose test pretty much immediately after I ate breakfast the next morning just because I didn't want to have to come back…and I failed it by 4 points.  So now I get to go back for the 3 hour test.  I'm more anxious about having to get blood drawn again than about a potential GD diagnosis.  I hate needles so much :(
Then if that wasn't enough for 1-2 weeks, last night as I was making homemade teriyaki sauce, I managed to pour the boiling thick syrup all over my right hand!!!  I had to keep my hand submerged in cold water until 5am this morning when the pain finally eased up (12 hours, really!?!?) And was finally able to pass the F out and sleep.  Thank goodness I'm not working and could actually sleep.  But now my hand is all striped and streaked, it's gonna look like I have bruised knuckles for a loooong time!

Okay:  since all I seem to do is whine and complain, let me share this little gem if anybody is having trouble getting comfortable at night:
sleeping on my side was NOT working for me.  No combination of pillow arranging would take away the pain from laying on my hip for even 5 minutes, I would toss and turn into the wee hours of the night until exhaustion finally claimed me.  So out of desperation, I got the cheapy target brand foam mattress topper (twin size was $13.99) and it is HEAVEN!!  I can finally sleep now!  You know…when I'm not trying to pee out rocks and burn my hand off.

I'm hoping that next week I have nothing but good news to report.
And if you read all of this, you deserve a milkshake :)

ETA: WOW!  sorry this was SO long!

  • @daisyemerson - I am sorry you've had such a rough go of it! I do have to say, that was the most upbeat "whine and complain" session I think I've ever read. You may have been through a crap storm, but you still seem to have good spirits! :D

I actually felt guilty complaining so much when the rest of my pregnancy has been such a cake walk.

So true! Induction is absolutely beneficial in many high blood pressure cases. For me, though, the bp wasn't pregnancy related. I maintain higher-than-normal bp in "normal" life. I also didn't exhibit any other signs of pre-eclampsia, nor were there any other flags based on ultrasound. The induction was an extremely conservative move, and I'm not convinced it was right in my situation for that pregnancy. That being said, my doc and midwife are monitoring my bp and this tiny very closely this time around to make sure nothing goes wonky.

  • BFP here!!! I am freaking out a bit because we weren't expecting it! Hubby isn't home so I am going crazy! I have PCOS so I kind of convinced myself that I couldn't get pg without the clomid. And all of this is really random sorry! Just had to share with someone!

    Congratulations!
  • Thanks @NVandGZ‌!

And I just realized I am going to be 32 weeks pg at the same time I am maid if honor at my friends wedding.... Crap, lol
