Acupuncture

Hello ladies

Hope everyone is doing well! It's been a while since I've posted, our 1st IUI was a bust and we are mentally preparing for our next try later this month. I recently heard from a friend whose cousin is doing acupuncture to help regulate her hormones and to assist with fertility. Has anyone tried acupuncture? Any thoughts?

HSG 07/2011 right tube blocked
Clomid 50mg 3/2012 - no response
Clomid 50mg 4/2012 - no response
Met with RE 6/2012
PCOS/IR diagnosed 6/2012
Femura 5mg  9/2012 - no response
Laparoscopy 12/2012 close off right tube
Clomid 150mg 3/2013 - no response
1st Follistim Cycle 7/16/2013 -  CD3-6 125iu; CD7-8 150iu; CD9-15 175iu; Trigger 8/1; IUI scheduled for 8/3/2013...BFN AF arrived 8-16-2013
8/2013 cycle benched for cyst

    Yep I just had my first session. I enjoyed it a lot. The doc does as many pre treatments as you want but 3 specific to fertility treatment timings (IVF). Insurance may or may not cover it, but not all are expensive. My doctor OOP costs were $125 initial consult & 1st treatment and $75 each session afterwards.

    I recently started acupuncture~ive have 3 sessions so far, I began last month right after my first iui (which was a bust). I plan on continuing about 1 time a week as my insurance covers 12 appointments. I am also having iui #2 later this month. Best of luck

    I just had my consult and first session last week. If anything, I'm hoping it helps me mentally. I'm going to give him 3 months and then decide where to go from there...

    Thank you for sharing your experience. My husband doesn't believe in acupuncture and he said he doesn't want to add any extra cost to the OOP amount we are already spending. I guess we will see how IUI #2 goes.

    I have never tried acupuncture for fertility.  I used to go years ago when I was diagnosed with endometriosis.  I believe that the treatments helped with my pain.  I also believe that the hour I was with the acupuncturist was the best damn hour of the week.  I'd become so relaxed I'd fall asleep.
    Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
    RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
    IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

    A less expensive option is to find somewhere in your area that does community acupuncture.  You get the same treatment, but instead of being in a private office/room it's done in a large room with other patients.  Totally might not be something you'd be comfortable with but it's definitely less expensive by far.

    10/11-10/12 - tried to conceive naturally with Metformin, due to PCOS never had a cycle
    10/12-12/12 3 cycles of Clomid - fail
    6/13- 1st cycle on Clomid 50mg, Metformin, Follistim, and Ovidrel- BFN
    7/13 2nd cycle on Clomid 50 mg, Metformin, Follistim, and Ovidrel 1st IUI - BFN
    8/13 3rd cycle on Clomid 50 mg, Metformin, Follistim, and Ovidrel 2nd IUI - BFN
    9/13 4th cycle on Clomid 50 mg, Metformin, Follistim, and Ovidrel - Benched with Cysts
    From 12/13 to current I have ovulated 4 times naturally
    Currently on break to get healthy.... 35 pounds down, 13 to go!

    @hope2bmom83‌ I don't think that type of acupuncture is practiced here. I wouldn't let that article deter me one bit!

    Good to know.  I know nothing about acupuncture so I was curious.  I had a feeling that wasn't anything I would need to worry about.

    It was also suggested to me to try acupuncture for fertility but I must admit I am a little scared. But I have also heard good things from people who have tried it so it is something I am still considering. GL if you give it a try and I would love to hear how it goes for you.
    3 year lymphoma survivor - chemo has caused fertility issues so here I am.
    Me: Almost 31 DH: 31
    Slightly elevated FSH level - everything else normal

    I have been very intrigued by acupuncture and would love to try it but it's not covered at all by my insurance and can get a little expensive. Would love to know how you make out!

    I used Groupon deals to try a couple different practitioners and was glad I did. Nothing wrong with the first, she was really nice. I'm just pretty high strung and really bugged by needles, so laying still with nothing to think about except that I was full of needles just was not relaxing!

    The one I'm seeing now is a better fit.  She puts me on this amazing heated pad (I'm one of those "always cold" people) and gives me a meditation CD to listen to - which gives me just the distraction I need to actually chill out and let the needles do their thing.
