3rd Trimester

Playing music for baby!

I have downloaded lots of soft piano music, some slow and melodic good Coldplay songs and some Jack Johnson. I put my phone on my tummy and let LO listen for about 20 minutes or so every few days! I wonder if she enjoys it? I try to do it when I feel her being really active, so I know she hears it and is alert, but sometimes she will get still when I start playing it.. I wonder if it relaxes her or is putting her to sleep?!

Is anyone else playing music for LO? If so what are you playing?

  • During my first PG, inadvertently turned my DS on to Sugarland. Their cd had just come out and I used to blast it on my way to and from work in the car. After he was born, we accidentally figured out that hearing the cd would make him stop crying. It was a crazy thing!

You don't have to put it right on your belly for them to hear it.

Yes! I did a soothing playlist (pop music) and will try to listen (and make the baby listen) to it when I am at home. It's really relaxing. I have read that if the baby gets used to a particular music before being born, he/she'll find it soothing and calming.

This weekend I am going to prepare a classical music playlist, to have an alternative to the first one.

  • I used to play classical music around the house while I read or did dishes, and now my LO loves to hear it while she falls asleep.  We had a mobile in her crib that played music, and when she was big enough to stand we took down the mobil but left the part that played... she would get up and turn it on herself and then go to sleep!
