George?

How does everybody feel about the name George? It's a family name for us and we're expecting a boy. I think I like it but am just not sure I love it/can see it on my baby. Other names in the running: Colin, Duncan, Patrick.

I personally am not a fan although I do like that it is a traditional name. I'm a big fan of family names as well so I would try to incorporate it in somehow. What about using George as the middle name and using something else that you are set on for the first name?

I love George. If DD had been a boy it would have been her name. It is a family name that goes way back on my mother's father's side. I like that it is familiar, but not super popular right now. (In the 100s, although that may change since the royals used it again.)

I also have Patrick on my list. Great name!

Not a fan of Duncan, it is a little dumpy to me.

I am a little worried about it getting more popular since the royals used it. DD's name (Elodie) is not highly ranked. I like that George is familiar/traditional, but think I hesitate to use it because it is rather normal in comparison to DD's name. It's also a recent add to our list, so maybe I just haven't had the time I need to think on it. I usually stew on a name for a week before I decide if it feels like it could belong to our baby

My mom has been trying to get me to use it for a son for as long as I can remember. It's a family name on her side. I want to love it but sadly I don't. I cringe a little every time I hear it.

I adore George. It was our for sure choice for a hypothetical DS #2 until Will and Kate used it. Popularity is a big concern of mine and I'm worried about an upswing. Being Canadian too, they are actually our royals so the connection is beyond People magazine, etc.
