Help me pick DD's name

Hi Ladies,

It has been like pulling teeth but DH and I have finally come up with a list of names that we both agree on.  Here is our final list.  Which name do you like best?  Our last name is 3 syllables, begins with D.  Any advice/input is greatly appreciated!

- Charlotte
- Claire
- Elizabeth
- Juliana
- Juliet
- Katherine

Honestly they are all fine names.  I think Claire is my favorite, especially with a long last name.
This is what I'm kind of concerned about.  I don't know if the 4 syllable names (Juliana, Elizabeth) are too much with a 3 syllable last name, especially since we don't want to do nicknames.

I would pick Katherine, but with a long last name, I'm going with Juliet.

ETA: I realize they have the same amount of syllables, but it is a few less letters :) LOL. IDK. Maybe I just like Juliet better.

  • Juliet followed by Katherine.
  • I love Katherine! I also dont mind long names :)
  • In order from favorite to least favorite:

Elizabeth -- For the nicknames. I love the amount of them, and I'm especially fond of Betty and Betsy. I think it's a really versatile name.

Juliet -- Pretty and even though it has 3 syllables it still looks short.

Katherine -- Again, nicknames. I prefer it with a C. Somehow it looks 'harder' with a K.

    Charlotte
    Claire
Juliana -- I just am not wild about this name. It's a fine name, but the most NMS of them.

  • I honestly love all. But I'm going with Claire, since you appear to have a longer last name. It might flow the best in my head.

  • Your list is very similar to ours! :)

-Charlotte: Love! This is probably one of our top contenders.
    - Claire: We've considered this as a MN. It's too simple for my taste as a FN.
    - Elizabeth: Classic, beautiful.
    - Juliana: Love! Another one of our top contenders.
    - Juliet: We almost went with this a FN, but decided we liked Juliana better. I'm definitely considering it as a MN option, and I still think it's a gorgeous (and not overly used) name.
    - Katherine: A classic and I like it, but I find it a tad bland. I prefer it as a MN.

  • I like Claire best with a longer last name. We have a long last name also, and I'm so glad we went with a short name.
  • They're all gorgeous names. It just comes down to personal preference...I'd say Claire or Charlotte since you have a long last name. Elizabeth and Juliana could end up being a moutful when you add the middle and last names.

  • All lovely names!
Maybe Claire because of the long last name. (I have the same situation..)

  • Claire! Almost all of those names were on our short list, but Claire is my all time favorite girl name.
