Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

RPL testing - recurrent pregnancy loss

Has anyone had this testing done? My RE will test me as soon as hcg gets down to zero, hopefully next Thursday. I understand they will test for clotting disorders, chromosome issues and natural killer cells. Anyone ever had this done? They will be sending bw out to Lab Corp. How long do you think it will take to get results? This is second loss at 5-6wks so anxious to get sone answers.

Re: RPL testing - recurrent pregnancy loss

  • I was tested for a slew of things after both of my pregnancies ended in miscarriages (ordered through OB though, not RE). I couldn't tell you the names of everything they tested for, but I counted 10 vials of blood that they took! I had to ask the nurse if I had enough blood left to drive home. I know clotting was one of the tests. Some results came back in a couple of days, the rest were back by about a week to ten days. Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon!

I will be going in for consultation and testing this Thursday.  Im nervous but happy to start the process. Im not sure what all they are testing me for but I will try to update when I have more info. Please do the same. Maybe we can help eachother get answers!

@gabbagal, do you mind me asking if they ever found a cause? or are you still in the testing process. If you dont feel comfortable responding, no worries!
  • @Maxsmommy123112‌ - You got it! Glad I'll have a RPL testing buddy (if we have to). :-(
  • @speck10 The more knowledge I gain the better I feel about future pregnancies. Just last week someone I know who suffered a loss gave me some insight on taking Progesterone. I was going to post about it after my testing because maybe it will help someone on here!
  • @maxsmommy123112 unfortunately (though technically fortunately) my results all came back normal, which is sort of what I expected. Since I was 39 and 40 during my two losses, chances were high they were due in part to my advanced maternal age. Luckily my OB was nice enough to not just write it off to my age and suggested doing the tests "just in case" there was anything else that could be going on that they could help. Sadly there's not much I can do about having eggs from the Nixon era other than hope I can beat the not so great odds. Good luck with your consultation and definitely keep everyone posted

  • @gabbagal...I don't know whether to say I am happy to hear that or mad for you. I feel like after 2 miscarriages you just want answers -- or at least that is what I am hoping for. You will be in my prayers every night for your rainbow baby. I know a lot of moms in their 40's who conceived after difficulty and now have beautiful babies. Stay hopeful! I know its hard!
  • @Maxsmommy123112‌ - I was on progesterone and baby aspirin this last early miscarriage. TSH was also fine. They thought first mc was either from Hypothyroidism not being under control or from low progesterone. Definitely worth checking into. The progesterone in oil shots work best for me but can also do suppositories.
