Pumping duration

I know everyone always says 30 min should be the max for pumping duration but what if some is still coming out at 30+? Just small amounts but what do you think? Will cutting it off do anything to my supply?

We are always making more milk, it just comes In ebbs and flows. I think there is risk of damage from pumping too long. I'd cut things off around 20 min - and increase pumping frequency if you are concerned about supply.

  • I have pumped for longer than 30 min. So have some friends. I think it is fine. I have never had damage from the pump. I have a low supply.

  • It pays to be cautious so I think it shouldn't take that long.
  • You could also sit on the toilet for 10 minutes but it would be a waste of time and make your butt numb; the bulk of it comes out in the first 30 seconds. Only with pumping the first 30 seconds is 10-15 minutes. :-)
