Bacterial Vaginosis

Quick history - my water broke with my first just shy of 35 weeks and we never knew why.  We were fortunate and even though we stayed in the hospital for 5 days it was precautionary and he was healthy.  With our second I was tested for bacterial vaginosis late in the 2nd tri, it wasn't something I asked for so I'm not sure what made them do it, but I was treated for it.  And I'm not sure if it's related or not, but my second wasn't born till 39 weeks.  I asked at my appt today if it was something I needed to be concerned about this time and she said only if I was itchy or noticed bad smells.  I told her I haven't been itchy, but I have noticed a stronger than normal odor and she didn't seem concerned.  I guess I was just wondering if anyone else has had it and if it was pretty obvious to you.  I really do not want to go through another 5 day hospital stay, especially with 2 little ones at home already.

I have had it. It's pretty obvious. It has an odor that you can't rid of and it will itch. I haven't had it for a while but the first time I treated it it didn't get rid of it completely. We tried a different treatment which was much better.

I had it before getting pregnant and once during the 2nd tri. I normally notice the itchiness first and the smell only after sex. It can't hurt for them to check. I'm sure they check last time since you had your first baby so early.

I had it at 28 weeks. I actually didn't know, I went in for very light spotting and my swab came back positive for BV. I did have some lower abdomen pain that I thought was just normal pregnancy related pain but it went away after the metrogel BV treatment. So lower abdominal pain followed by spotting were the only symptoms I actually had for BV.

I was pretty sure that was why they checked too and thought they would want to do it again.  I saw an ARNP this time and not sure if that affects whether they would check or not.  Kind of wishing I had pushed it now.
