Baby girl name-- Madden?

What do you think of Madden for a little girl? Possibly spelled Madyn

NO. That is a video game. I would think that you let a man child talk you into this name. Also, what did the letter E ever do to you for you to ignore it like that?

This. I would just assume that someone's SO plays video games way too much. Why would you ever want to name your child after a video game when there are so many names out there that are gorgeous?

  • I would assume you are football obsessed. Madyn is actually worsen than Madden.
  • I know a toddler named Madden because it's a family name. They call her Maddie. I don't love it, but if it has no family significance then I hate it.

    Madyn is an abomination.

  • No.  I mean, you know what John Madden looks like, right?  That's an image I can't get out of my head and cannot comprehend on a girl.

Madyn looks like it should be pronounced Maiden.  At least to me.  If you're going to muck up the spelling, it should at least not make the pronunciation more confusing.

Madeline is a perfectly good girl name.  Yes, it's popular.  But popular is better than bad.

  • Just came across it in my baby name book. It's actually in the section of names on the rise, so someone likes it.

  • It's really not feminine or appealing.
  • I don't like it... I also think of the football video game.

Some you might like:  Merritt, Mavis, Marin,  Madeline (could nn Maddie)

  • Please don't. It's absolutely horrible.

  • Oh god no. Seriously no, the only positive thing is that it made me remember the hilarious Madden "Doink" YouTube video.
  • Since when does a name being on the rise make it a good name?

    it is horrendous

  • I don't like it on a boy but it is horrific on a girl. If you don't like Madeline or Madison then the legal name of Maddie would be light years better.

Is Madyn pronounced like Maiden? Just wondering... would make it more feminine, but a tad demeaning I would think. I think if you like the sound of those names, Madeline is a better choice. Or perhaps Maddison? You could still always call her Madyn at home as a cute name, but then as an adult or school-aged child she could use Maddie or Madeline/Maddison.
  • Lol geez I saw the name in a book and asked opinions. Never said I was pregnant, having a girl, or even considering using this name for a child.
  • Also, it means "little dog," which is fine, just be aware

  • Yes, thanks for the honest opinions
  • There are plenty of terrible names on the rise. That doesn't mean they are good names, that just means there are more and more idiots in the world. Do you want your daughter to be taken seriously when she applies for jobs? For the love, please don't name her Madden (and especially not Madyn).
