Easter Baskets

Growing up my parents NEVER gave us Easter baskets or did Easter egg hunts... That will NOT be the case now that I'm a mom!

Has anyone purchased a personalized Easter basket yet? Or plan on doing so? If so, where did you/will you purchase it from?

I searched etsy but most listings are just for the liner. I need to check the baskets at michaels/Joann's and then maybe I can go forward that way.

What do you plan on putting in your LOs basket?

I just got one from Pottery Barn Kids, personalized liner and basket. It's a bit pricier but I am really happy with. Because TB's drunk I can't attach pictures but you can see it on my fb under my uploads (I believe). My only regret is buying the larger size, it's a bit overkill and the smaller size would have been perfect.

Because it's so big I plan to put a stuffed animal in it, teething toys, and maybe some onsies?? I have no idea.... :(

I always buy spring stuff for Easter, and am known to buy too much...Buckets, beach toys, squirt guns, sidewalk chalk and so on. Then a stuffed Easter toy, and an outfit.

I believe Claire is getting a baby swing for the swingset this year.

As for baskets, we just buy old style wicker ones. I just like them best. They seem more "eastery." ;)

ETA: oh and of course candy too!

I was just thinking about this the other day and found this list on Pinterest that I thought was helpful:

LO was gifted a basket and personalized liner from pottery barn kids, and it is really cute!

ETA: had to use a different link.

  • We won't do a personalized one, but she will get a basket with pacifiers, books, an outfit, socks, and some toys.

  • We had really sturdy wicker baskets growing up and used the same one each year.
I'm not usually a PBK advocate but their baskets are super cute & well made (read: pricy but worth the money and will hopefully last 18 years). I may actually wait until they go on sale after Easter and get one...lo won't know the difference this year.

I'll probably stick to a stuffed toy, eggs & treats (mix of candy & healthy snacks). My mom never got us other stuff for the basket & I like the idea of keeping it simple/not turning it into a "presents" kind of thing.
  • What about Etsy?? I see a lot of cute ones on there :-)

  • Both of theirs came from personalizationmall.com. I have no idea what we're putting in Lucas' basket. I know for Alexis, we're going to put some puffs, mum mums, an Easter book and a stuffed animal.

  • I think for this age I'm going to get H one of the personalized plush bunny baskets from PBK. Then when she's like 5 I'll order a nice basket.

I'm not sure what will go in it yet other than a stuffed bunny.

  • We always had random baskets growing up so I hadn't even thought about doing a personalized one... Off to browse baskets online.
  • I don't think we will personalize it. 5 and below had some cute ones we may get.

We have one of those stores near me but have never been in...is it good???
  • I think we are just going to do the wicker ones from Target or something. I think she is going to get some puffs, stuffed bunny, bubbles, and maybe a summer outfit. All of SS we just wind up throwing away after Easter. We have too much stuff.

Oh, there will be no Easter bunny nonsense at our house ;) Nicholas will know that all gifts come from Mom & Dad. He'll enjoy learning about the resurrection and at the same time enjoy his goodies from his Easter basket.

Etsy mainly has the liners and not the entire basket. The few full baskets I've seen don't catch my attention...

I'm going to Michaels tomorrow to see how much a basket is and I'll probably end up ordering the liner from Etsy. I'm just shocked that the liner in most stores is about $30 with shipping!!

  • @V&G maybe since you're going to michaels anyway, you could get some stuff to personalize the liner yourself? I'm not really very crafty but it could be fun. Like sew on button letters to spell his name or fabric paint. It would probably be cheaper than the $30 liners

  • I bought her basket at Michael's with a 40%OFF coupon. The liner I ordered from pbk. They want $30 for their baskets only That's just insane.

You can get iron on embroidered letters at michaels. They're super easy to apply.
  • I'm still trying to talk DH into a personalized one but as far as what's in it....I have a few little squishy books, a little bunny rattle, probably some socks, maybe a pair of shoes, and/or some puffs?

  • I didn't read all of the other comments, so maybe this has already been mentioned. My 2.5 year old will be getting things he likes - a dinosaur toy and maybe movie - plus something religious and a healthy treat. My August LO will likely get something she needs - a diaper, clothes - and maybe a small toy or book.

  • I make my own. The basket I get from hobby lobby and the rest is all imagination.

  • @ludali‌ that's cute and makes me want to paint my own. Which also means at the rate I am going on crafts LO will get a personalized basket sometime around age 5.
  • LOL @kkay1982‌ I know my craft skills aren't as good as that basket...good luck!!
  • When I was a kid my family would make Easter baskets out of paper mache (sp?) then decorate. It was a lot of fun and exciting to find Easter morning. So I think we'll do something similar once LO is older. This year we'll probably buy a cute little basket and fill with a book, toy and maybe a hat or outfit for our trip to Mexico. He has more than enough stuffed animals lol

  • I bought a PBK basket and liner and monogrammed it myself. He won't know the difference this year, but I plan on reusing it for several years. I just got a few Easter books, a set of bunny ears from PBK for pictures and I'm putting a little jelly-cat brand stuffed bunny in it that we already had! I also ordered a sweet little toddler plate with his name on if off Zulily last week. They sold out fast, but it's super cute!

Target has some cute/cheap things, as well. I got a burlap bunny banner to use in some pictures. Cute!

Growing up we always had the coolest baskets that my mom would customize for us. We always felt so special! I probably won't start customizing his until next Easter though. We will customize based on what he likes at that moment.

I would get the actual basket from amazon though.

  • I bought both boys the plain Easter totes from lands end with their names on them. I like them because they can fold up and go in my "Easter storage tub" in the basement easily.

  • DD1's basket is from Michael's. I reuse the same basket every year, my mom did the same. I haven't gotten a basket for DD2, yet.

DD1 was over a year for her first Easter (it was early the year I was pregnant and late the year after). She got a small chocolate bunny, triangle shaped crayons, chalk eggs and a book. (The Complete Adventures of Peter Rabbit.) Last year she got a book about the Easter Bunny, a book about The Very First Easter (the Catholic version), Cinderella DVD, some craft supplies and a chocolate bunny.

Two years ago we started hiding eggs for DD1, we probably could have waited until last year to start. I mix it up with M&Ms, jelly beans, Annie's bunny crackers and money.

So far this year I've picked up craft supplies for DD1 and a couple handheld musical instruments for DD2, like egg shakers. I might through a book or two in there for DD2, but that's probably it.
