TTC after 35

Getting Healthy Check-In

I will start with saying I'm sorry for skipping last week.

But here we are again checking to see how all our wonderful woman are doing. Let us know the progress you have made. Maybe you lost weight or started exercising, or have made some healthier choices in your diet. What ever you have done it is all great.

I keep telling myself baby steps, baby steps and eventually I will get there. I want everyone on this board who wants to get healthier to not give up. Remember it's going to help us live longer and hopefully make our ttc journey a little easier.

Well I will start by saying I have lost a total of 7-8 lbs. not sure which because the scale has gone up and down yesterday and today. But I has a piece of frozen pizza that hAd a ton of sodium so I'm hoping it's just from that. I will drink a tom of water today to see if that helps.

I havnt exercised in 2 weeks but I still lost about a pound a week so I'm ok with that. If our temps ever climb over 30 I will start walking again and maybe that will turn into jogging. But we will see.

I am happy with my progress so far. I havnt gone down a pants size or anything but my clothes feel loose and that's great. My stomach is getting smaller which is what made me want to loose weight. It looked like I was 5 months pregnant and I hated when people who know we are ttc would look at it like they were waiting for me to tell them I was pregnant. Thank god no one ever said it but I had to fix the problem before that happened. Since my MC last year I put on 10lbs and it was all in my stomach. Well that 10 is almost gone and I'm happy.

It seams like there has been mention of getting healthier in a lot of posts. So if you want to get healthier please join our group. You don't have to give details if you aren't comfortable but join us so we know you are trying and can help support you.

Oh and I wanted to let anyone on MyFitnessPal know that my screen name is vegigood if you want to friend me. I am a vegetarian so my diet is a lot different than you carnivors but I'm there if you need a friend.

Not sure if I lost my H said I was weighing myself to much..lol I have noticed my legs are firmer and stomach is flatter( thank goodness , not sure if all fat or the meds:(...). I walk and just started Jillian michaels 30 day shred...I follow the modified girl...doing this to mostly firm up faster..;)... I cheated and had couple pieces of pepperoni pizza..but ok with that I can only do about 80% good! Haha!!good luck to all you ladies! @hooligans4 that is great weight loss! You go girl;)

  • @hooligans4 That's awesome girl! You are doing so good!

I on the other hand, fell hard off the wagon these last 2 weeks. But I have been talking to a girlfriend that is also TTC at the same RE that I will be going to...and she told me they will make you lose weight before doing any procedures. So that's my motivation. I want to lose 25 lbs. I would love to lose that in the next few weeks and months. But we'll see. I could stand to lose much more but I'll be happy with 25lbs.

So today I plan to drink nothing but water and I have some healthy choices for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Hope it goes well!

Good luck to all of you who are trying to get healthy!

  • @Samuelismomma wow you amaze me!!!!!! I'm jealous that you are firming up. And we need to cheat sometimes. It's like a reward for doing all this hard work !!!!!

@soontobeshrader it's good that you have set a goal to loose 25 lbs. I need to loose 35 but I'm giving myself a year to do it. It's great that you are only going to drink water. You will be surprised how many calories are in drinks. And just start with small changes in you diet. I have been making little chAnges here and there and it gets easier I promise. I'm 7 weeks into it and I'm used to it now.
So good luck and I know you will be able to do it.

  • Great job, @hooligans4 and @samuelismomma!

I'm more with @soontobeshrader--off that wagon (although it's great that you've set some realistic goals!)

My parents were in town this week, so it was pretty much non-stop eating out.  However, it's finally above freezing here, so I'm planning a longish walk after work.  Woo!

Keep up the great work, ladies!

  • Hey I am going to chime in too! Cause NTNP, On fat tuesday I took full advantage goodies for breakfast,  a few mini bags of peanut m&M's, pancakes for dinner and then Friendly's for a Reese's sundae....I kinda wanted to barf the next which was my goal. I have not had any sweets, cookies, desserts, ice cream since Tuesday. I am really proud of myself. I need to lose about 55 lbs to get down to my married weight. 20lbs of that was put on since ttc.

So hopefully my lenten "giving up of sweets" will help me! It's also starting to warm up so I can go outside more. I have a Bat Mitzvah in June, a Bar Mitvah in September, a wedding in October and the wedding I really want to slim down for in December, oh wait that's TWO weddings in Decemeber.

  • @Davie813 I hope you got out for your walk yesterday. I made MH go on a 2 mile walk after dinner last night and today it's finally warmish so I will make him come with me agAin.

Hope the visit with your parents was good.

@HeathernSteven wow do you have a busy year ahead. I know what you are saying about putting on the weight while ttc. I put 10lbs on this year alone. You could definitely loose 20lbs by December. Just set small goals for yourself. I know you can do it. Giving up sweets for lent will help. Just don't go back to eating them after Easter passes. I know it's easier said than done.

  • Any of you girls notice after giving up fat foods, if you end up eating them you get sick? I ate some chips and got so sick....of course could be a good thing:p

  • I was never a chip fan. My downfall is carbs. I used to make mashed potatoe sandwiches. Bad I know. Oh how I miss my carbs :(

  • Anything greasy tends to go right through me. I guess that is good for keeping us from eating it.

Oh and I got MH to walk 2.2 miles with me the past 2 nights. It feels great.

  • @samuelismomma I find in general now adays greasy foods just make me ill, doesn't mean I don't eat them! I just need to be careful.....I used ot be able to eat lots of food, not so much as I get older.

I have gone 1 week without any sweets!!! That is all I have changed so far

  • Checking in - better late than never, I suppose!  I am always so impressed by everyone's progress.  I have not lost any weight yet, but I'm trying to eat healthier, and hoping that giving up french fries for Lent will help!   It's been tough the past few weeks because I have a lot of craziness at work right now, and stress makes me reach for the sweets!  I'm going to keep trying to keep track on MyFitnessPal to keep myself in check.
