Catching fire

So I just finished watching the movie. I am kinda lame and hate to read so I haven't read any of the books. Same with Harry potter, twilight, etc. I just watch all the movies, although I usually hear the books are better. I thought it was really good as well as the first one.

But for some reason I'm still so wierded out than anyone would actually come up with a movie that kids/teens/young adults have to fight to their death. To me, it's so disturbing. But anyhow, I do think the movies were very good. Can't wait for the next one now to see what happens! They kinda left you hanging.

Also it was kinda sad to see Phillip seymore Hoffman in that one. Such a sad waste of talent. He was a great actor! No point to this post, just knew there was a lot of hunger games fans on here.

  • Books are always better! It was forever since i read the book and I had forgotten how the 2nd one ended. I hate how it just leaves you hanging!

  • You think the Hunger Games is bad, google "Battle Royale," by Japanese author Koushun Takami. I read this years ago... It is a graphic novel, aka manga, & it is basically a televised battle til death between high school students on an isolated island..
It makes the hunger games look like a rendetion by Barney. It actually came out before The Hunger Games' books- they even made a movie (which drove me batty trying to watch)... It is very graphic & gory.
The japs are ahead of us by leaps & bounds when it comes to exposure of the human body, sex, & death :/ I may have worded that wrong in saying they're ahead of us

  • I was hesitant to read the books when my friend told me the premise.  However, I finally did and loved them so much.  The movies for the most part stay true to the books, but the books have much more detail.  I very rarely watch a movie without reading the book(s) first.  The exceptions being Harry Potter (I had no interest in the concept until I watched the movies with DS1 and realized it was different than I had thought) and Beautiful Creatures (I watched the movie not knowing there was a book series).

Omg that sounds horrible. I did like these movies but just can't believe anyone would actually come up with that idea. I mean, who sits around and says, 'i think I'll write a book about kids having to fight and kill other kids to survive?' That's one disturbed very rich individual. I think I'll stay away from the japs movies!

  • Books are always better. They go into better detail.
As for not reading Harry Potter.

  • I just don't enjoy reading nor do I have time to. But DH and I watch a lot of movies.
  • I'm not a big reader, I HATE reading! Always have. Anyways I just watched the movie last night and I LOVED it! Great movie although throughout the whole "game" part I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I'm so excited for the next movie to come out! But I have no patience and wanted it to be out like yesterday. Boo for waiting!

  • Apparently I'm the minority here because I could not get into the books at all but I thoroughly enjoyed the movies!
