Ergo users

I remember a thread a couple weeks ago about using the Ergo with smaller babies without the infant insert. A couple of you said you use a receiving blanket. How exactly do you use it? Do you still do a newborn carry with their legs tucked? Do you just prop them up with it?
My LO is only about 12-13lbs so he's a little small for it still but we don't have the insert. We may just have to wait but was just curious if there was someway we could use it now. DS has great head and neck control... He's just a little peanut! :)

TIA!

Re: Ergo users

  • Google videos--I found a couple that were helpful. Basically you fold it in half twice, then roll it like a neck pillow. Then you put it in the bottom for the baby to sit on. My baby is about 14 1/2 pounds now and doesn't need the blanket anymore, although I still keep his legs in.

  • We use the infant insert, but if we didn't I would use a rolled up blanket at the bottom, froggy LO's legs inside the Ergo, and maybe even swaddle. This would achieve the same results as the insert.

  • Thank you for the help. With me he fits better with a blanket. My DH wasn't comfortable with it... I think his beer belly got in the way! :).
  • Dafuq with the flagging on Ltpugs? Also, I pronounce your name as Lieutenant Pugs…

Anyhoo, what PPs said will do the trick! My DD is in the in-between stage on the Ergo as well.
Haha! I need to make this my profile picture! :).

Me too! My DH works an embroidery machine and one of the thread colors is "Lt Navy" I said "Lieutenant Navy!?" And he laughed at me and told me it was light navy.
