Trying to Get Pregnant

Ovulating after CD 14=weak ovulation?

So, I'm a super nerd and watch videos on youtube of couples ttc.  I have been following this one couple and they posted a video with a doctor's visit.  In the visit, the doctor told the girl that since she was ovulating "late" around CD 19, it's not good and not a fertilizable egg.  Is there any merit to this?

When I ttc baby #1, I got pregnant on my 2nd cycle where I ovulated on CD 14.  The first cycle, I ovulated on CD 19 and did not get pregnant.  Since having my son, I have been ovulating CD 19-25 so this kind of concerns me.

Here's the video if anyone wants to watch what I am talking about.  She talks about it around the 7 minute mark but before that is the actual doctor visit.

LOL nah. You're fine. I O late-like, hella late- and my DS is perfectly fine and healthy. I think my O date the cycle I got pregnant with him was cd73 or something.

Ovulating on CD19 is not late.  People have gotten pregnant with healthy babies ovulating after CD40.

If you're concerned, talk to your doctor.  But really, it's not a big deal.

Don't get medical advice from YouTube.
    This.

I think what's more important is that if you O late you have a normal LP.

Also, Youtube is probably the worst place to look for medical advice. If you truly are concerned, speak with your doctor. But, I highly doubt they'll be alarmed with a CD19 O.
  • I remember watching that video a while back. If I remember correctly I did not like that Dr at all, he seemed like an ass. I'm to lazy to watch it again to confirm.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Thanks ladies.  I am not taking what I get from youtube as medical advice at all.  I just hadn't heard that before and watching footage of that doctor I began to wonder if he was just full of crap and trying to push clomid on that poor girl.

I am hoping you all will get to know me better within the next couple months (well, maybe not since you all will be pregnant by then!) as we start TTC but I tend to get a little nervous about this kind of stuff.  Feel free to tell my I am being ridiculous! :)

That is what I was thinking.  Like he said to them something along the lines of "well, it depends on how aggressive you want to be with this.  You could try on your own and probably get pregnant eventually or you could be aggressive with it."  Who when TTC doesn't want a baby asap!? It was almost like he was scaring them into taking clomid.

Yeah I posted this video. The couple is currently pregnant, about 8 or 9 weeks along.

And I don't think OP is looking to YouTube for medical advice but rather was concerned about what this real life RE was saying in the video. That's how I took it, at least. I also ovulate later and it kinda took me by surprise also.
  • I wouldn't put too much merit into the medical advice that doctors are giving to other people, especially on you tube. You don't know if there are other factors contrubuting to his comment. I think that the only thing you need to be concerned about if if you are having short LP's (correct me if I'm wrong ladies!). That might be something that you would want to discuss with your doctor but I would only focus on what is being told directly to you for your situation. Good luck!

Trying to have baby #1 since April 2013

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

April 29, 2014 - First RE appt., right tube needs to be removed and possibly left also if

it's bad too. RE suggests going straight to IVF

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

is MFI influenced. Trying naturally until decision... Repeat SA  in September. Aiming for IUI #1 November 2014.

  • I think ovulating really late might mean the egg isn't ideal, but a CD 19 egg is not "non-fertilizable". Anecdotal here, but I usually O early, but the one cycle I O'd "late" on CD 19 I got pg with DD. Don't take advice from YouTube. Also, I wonder if the doctor consented to being recorded? I didn't watch it so I don't know if it was explicit.
