Baby Names

legit name?

Currently trying to name #3/DS1.  DD1 is Ivy Grace and DD2 is Lucy Mae.  This one is a boy and is giving us even more problems then naming the girls.  We like  not common, but real names.  DH wants to do Callen/Callan, but I can't get past whether it is a real name or not.  The only other name we have on our list is Thomas, but it feels a little too common for me.  Here are our criteria: 2 syllables, cannot start with an I or an L, preferably not in the top 100.  Here are ideas of names we like, but don't meet our criteria: Isaac, Lincoln, and Oliver.  We have a long last name that starts with a P and ends with -an.  Help!

  • Love Cullen and Callum, but DH doesn't!  I take it most people don't think Callen is a real name then?

  • Caelan is a real name :) It's english and means "Rare"
  • I couldn't find Callen on Behindthename.com
  • I only know a girl named Kalyn (pronounced the same). I have a nephew named Kellan which is a real name.

My son's name is Callan pronounced Cal- Anne. No one has ever asked if it was a "real name". We heard the name Callan on NCIS LA and liked it. It was also in my baby book (can't remember the name) but listed as a girls name. Callan with accent mark on second a is listed as meaning ruckus from a Irish Gaelic dictionary.

DS1 is Callen and this was our inspiration as well. I doubt its a "real" name but we have only ever received compliments on it nonetheless.

  • I don't think it sounds like a real name. I prefer Kellen or Callum.

But Callan is his last name.  His first name begins with a G.
