Reasons Your SO/DH Shoots Your Names Down

What are the reasons your SO/DH doesn't like the names you choose? Do they just say no or do they have reasons? S/O is hilarious about my name choices so it's hard to get frustrated at him.

Me: "What about Sam for a boy?"
S/O: "No. My cousins GF is Sam and she's a trashy bitch."

Me: "What about Roman?"
S/O: "Gross, are you serious?"

Me: "What about Beau?"
S/O: "That's a douchebag name."

He's too funny to get mad at. Whatever, Roman is awesome.

Mine says I like "old lady shit" so he shot down Alfred (call him Alfie), Edward, Charlotte, etc.

But he LOVES Alice and George so go figure.

I pretty much got that when I suggested Edith and Louisa, which I loooooooove.

And Edith was this old lady that lived next door when I was little and made me sandwiches and gave me ribbon candy and I miss her =[

Mostly mine kept coming up with all the awful nicknames they'd get tortured with.

One of my top names is Maren. DH says it's made up.

Meanwhile, his favorite girl name is Madison. Go figure.

S/O has come up with Timber or Roe for a boy. Which I don't dislike, but then Ke$ha ruined the name Timber with that stupid song, so now we nixed it.

And I like Roe but spelled Row only and he said no.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

My DH's go-to is "Not a fan".

He is more concerned with our kid being "cool" at school. One name he suggested was Colton and thought it would be so awesome because all of his friends would call him "Colt".

I told him today that picking out a name for our kid isn't the same as picking out a gamer tag for xbox.

Or Coltie was his baby nickname, he's 24 now but whatever, I'll call him Coltie forever.

I grew up as the 3rd Jaime in a 20 kid class all throughout elementary school so I am dead-set on a non-Top 100 name. At first I liked Colton, then:

-My sister's friend has a 2 month old named Colton

-My dentist mentioned someone she knows who named their baby Colton

-This douchbag that is dating our friend said he liked Colton

-It is in the top 50 boy names for 2013

-Now you mentioning yet another Colton in the world....

DH has been pretty cool about most names, except the one name I am absolutely in love with (Noah). He says it is too feminine and biblical and "Why don't we just build him an ark?" Yeah, ok buddy. He has also really been into Joseph Jeremiah lately...I told him not to even go there.

@beckynsean11 That's what my DH does! He's convinced that if we name our child Gianna, she will become a stripper named Gigi Spark (Spark is a play off our last name).

My DH is a teacher, so he always vetos names based on students he has had. 

Me: How about "Ethan"

DH: No. I have an Ethan in class. He's a douchebag.

Edit: misspelled veto...
