1st Trimester

12-13 weeks with complications and scared!

Hi there ladies! I am pregnant currently with my third child and this has by far been the hardest of them all! From the beginning this pregnancy was different, I was sooo sick and dizzy to the point that I could not get my daily chores done! By ten weeks I had lost 10lbs and I am now considered underweight. I went in for my new OB appointment at 11 weeks and all was great despite the weight loss and constant sickness. The very next day I started to bleed, BAD, the doctor was pretty doubtful when she did my exam because when she went to do the exam blood poured all over the table, step and floor, she jumped up and hit an alarm for help. I was terrified and just laid there balling. After the doctors got the mess cleaned up they were able to see that the bleeding was not from my cervix and she feared the worse. She took me in the next room to do an ultrasound and to both of our surprise the baby was just fine! She could not see any reason for the bleeding so I was put on bedrest and sent home with a 50/50 chance, worst two day wait ever! I went back two days later for a return ultrasound, still bleeding, once again baby was good! Heart rate was 163 both times. The  doctor told me to come back in a week to recheck again and that brings me to today, I went in and they did not do an ultrasound. She used the doppler and right away got the heart beat, still in that 157-163 range and sounds healthy. She says I am still not out of the woods with this pregnancy and I am to remain low level activity. I go back next Wednesday and they will do an ultrasound then but in the mean time I am so scared. She said my chances are better than 50/50 now but not by much :( still unsure where the bleeding is coming from. Have any of you had this happen and everything be ok? Sorry for the description I just wanted to make it clear that it was way heavier than a period! Than you all :D

Re: 12-13 weeks with complications and scared!

  • I am trying so hard to relax about it but it is so scary that they cant find a source for the bleeding! With my boys I never had any bleeding or problems like this at all, the wait until next Wednesday for the ultrasound is torture. I was under the impression that the chance of miscarriage lowered a lot with seeing a strong heart beat but the doctor seems to think I should not feel as if I am out of the woods yet. Also, I had a miscarriage last year because of a hemorrhage that separated the placenta from the uterus wall so I am scared it is happening again.
