Aww-my 4 year old in her cast

As some of you read yesterday, my daughter broke her wrist at school.  This morning we went and got a permanent cast put on it.  She will be in the cast for four weeks.  They put it above her elbow to keep it more stable, and I guess they have notice that kids unknowingly can wiggle free of the cast especially at bed time.  She was such a brave girl.  She was pretty scared but she made it through and now just has to get use to it.  Thankfully she is right handed so she can still color and stuff but will need help with a lot.  I now have to accompany her to the bathroom to help pull up and down her pants.  She is excited to go show her friends at school and let them draw on it.

  • She's so cute! I broke both my arms as a kid (separate instances) I felt like a bad ass with my cast. Be happy it wasn't her leg because crutches are seriously the worst.  Hope the next 4 weeks fly by for you.

i hope it heals quickly! your dd looks like she's a trooper!

I broke an arm when I was 4. I remember this circular saw looking thing to cut off the cast, it definitely was terrifying! I saved my cast and I'm pretty sure my mom snuck in my room and threw it out because I never saw it again.
  • Aww brave girl! Super cute btw

  • Thank you all for the well wishes that she heals quickly.  She is in great spirits and day 1 with the cast went well.  It's definitely an adjustment for her having to do things with one hand.  I am glad she is right handed so she doesn't have to learn how to do things with her left hand.  I do have to step in to help here with certain things.(because she can't straighten her arm, I have to help her in the bathroom with pulling up and down her pants).

It seems like good timing because it's not summer and it's not going to effect her being able to play outside or play soccer, but the weather is finally warming up and after weeks upon weeks of not being able to go outside and play in the snow because it's too cold I still cannot let her go out because she can't get her cast wet.  She is a drive whole body into the snow to play kind of girl.

Xray in ten days to check on progress.  Thankfully that one they can do through the cast.  I am nervous about when it's time to take it off how she will handle that.  While we were waiting to get the cast one, she got kind of scared when she her the sound of the saw when they took off other casts.
