Dreams/bucket list

Since the board is so slow, I figured I'd try a GTKY. Share a dream or something off your bucket list!

Mine: H and I are planning a Round-the-World trip with the kids, in about five years. We've been saving money towards that goal for a few years, and we really hope that once the time is right, we have the courage to do it. We'd like to spend four months travelling through Asia, then make our way to Africa for four months, and then finish off the year in South America. We'll "home" school the kids for the year and make a few trips back to see our family and friends, probably between continents.

  • I have a few and they are all places I would like to go. I have also wanted to go to Alaska, Greece, and Poland and spend a few weeks there. I hope that we can go one day with LO. I want to see the Aurora Borealis. It looks beautiful in pictures so I know it must be amazing in person.

I thought of another:  I would like to be able take a vacation without having to worry about work/do work while I am on vacation. I honestly don't know if this will happen until I retire.
I wish there was a Hate it button. This sucks :(

  • I want to visit lots of National Parks!  We've done a few in the past few years, there is SO much cool stuff to see right here in the US of A!  Would be awesome to rent an RV (because Mama don't do tents) and hit the road.

@ThePinkSuperhero -  We're totally planning an RV national park trip for some day in the future when we've got two young-ish kids.

  • I would love to go back to Europe. Italy is next on my list and I would love to go back to Germany, France and Ireland. I really want to take my kids to Europe someday too. I also want to go to the Grand Canyon. I've never been and I want to see it and have my kids see it.

  • Wow, you dream big @barefoot84! That trip sounds fantastic!

I have few places in my bucket list I want to visit: China, Israel, Brazil, Peru. I loved to read some of your dreams, ladies, that gives me an idea to copy some of them to my bucket list ;)

  • We want to do all the national parks as well I think we have about 15 so far done. Camp every year of our lives (this mama does tents).  It grounds us.  I'd like to take my  H to Venice and to Paris (I've been to both). I'd like to see Macchu Piccu and the pyramids in my lifetime. I want to learn to scuba dive and do the Big Blue Hole in Belize. I'd like to take Cosette to swim with dolphins (I've done and loved it and want to share it). I'd like to volunteer more. I'd like to be under 150 lbs again. I'd like to rescue a dog.

Macchu Picchu is amazing. Also, there were a lot of families when we were there, and Peru is a very child friendly place to travel, although I would wait till the children are at least five years old, because of the altitude.

I would also like to be under 150 lbs again. I thought this was an impossible dream, a year ago. Then I joined WW and made it to 153 lbs. Then I got knocked up. Hopefully next year...

I would also love to swim with dolphins!

  • Oh Bella I totally forgot about Macchu Picchu - I want to do that and go on an African Safari.

More of an if money was no object thing but I would love to study photography and have a dark room in my house. I took photography in HS and college and looooved developing my own photos.

  • I'd love to add to my travels. Australia, Hawaii, Alaskan cruise, Egypt, Thailand, Turkey, Greece, Germany... and locally I still have to visit the grand canyon and niagara falls.

I'd love to someday have my own craft/art room to make pretty things in all day.

A vacation home would be nice.

Do it!! The African Safari is life changing. We saw the great migration in 2010 in the Serengeti Park (Tanzania) and it was AMAZING. However, I think I was even more blown away by the African people. They're so welcoming and fun to be with. I can't wait to go back with the kids.

  • Ha @cbear2010 I'm in Indiana. But I would have no idea how to use any of it nor have any where to put it! I would need to take some classes & get a new house with a room I could convert to a darkroom :) Thanks for the offer though! It's been 10 years since I used a dark room, I need some refreshers!

  • @barefoot84 I really do want to do it. There was a Groupon for one last year that I really wanted to buy ha ha. Maybe in 10 or 12 years we will be able to go and take the kids. I think that would be an amazing experience for us.

I think it's time I come clean, I can't figure out how to add a picture on TheBump. I really wanted to add a picture here, but failed.

If you do do it (do it!!!), and you're not against camping, do it camping style. I woke up in the morning to go to the washroom and there was an elephant literally a few meters from our tent. It was awesome.

  • @barefoot84 thanks I will strongly consider it! Just so I can bookmark it for the future - do you have a recommendation for what tour company to use?

We used a friend of a friend who didn't officially have a tour company, but who does it regularly. I would recommend looking at reviews of tour company at home before you leave, but booking once you're there, since it would be much cheaper.
