We are currently making the switch from bm to ff. LO has always spit up  a lot and I noticed that Similac and Enfamil both have a formula to help with spit up. Does anyone have an experience with either of these? Heard anything about them? TIA!

Edited: title to be more clear.

Re: Spit Up Formula

  • We use the Similac Sensitive.  DS was spitting up a lot early on so we tried the spit up version, but it was really thin and he spit it up more!

  • We use a combo of Similac Spit Up and Similac advance (Ready to Feed and mixed together).  She still spits up, but it is def. much less.

  • We do the same as @BeachCouple. About a 50/50 mixture of the Advance and the Spit Up, powder form. He still spits up a little here and there but it is significantly less. Some feedings nothing at all will come back up. I think the combo has helped keep him from getting constipated. As I've read the Spit Up formula can sometimes cause it.

  • We use Gerber Gentle, he spits up some but not a whole lot.

Thanks ladies! I guess this will be a trial and error. I took the advice of mixing it half with regular formula and send those bottles to day care today. (I use Dr. Browns) We shall see if the spit up was lessoned. If not, I will try Enfamil spit up since aparently there really is a difference in the brands. If still there's no progress in the spit up situation, I'll try the gentle/sensitive ones...

    ETA: words are hard

  • Our doctor told us to be rice cereal in his bottle. 1 tablespoon per ounce and it works! Size 3 dr.brown nipple.
  • I asked my pediatrician about this, and he doesn't particularly recommended the spit up formulas. He did say to use a gentle formula and give less formula more often to help with the spitting up. Layla has done better since we started this.
