Well, damn. She'll only sleep with white noise...I don't have it blasting in her ear and try not to have it too loud. But I may reconsider this now...thanks!
Thanks for posting! LO still needs the vacuum noise on an app to calm down sometimes. This is a good reminder to be very careful of volume and how close it is!
I think they are just encouraging parents to keep the volume lower and to keep it on the other side of the room. I believe it is like most things use it in moderation and within reasonable limits and it's fine.
Thanks for this! I keep mine on it's lowest setting. I just need it to drown out the sound of my dogs prancing around the house at night. And they DO prance, those mf'ers.
Yeah sorry, this just seems like common sense to me. Don't put it too close to baby and don't put it on max volume.
Yes, it does seem like common sense, but there were A LOT of people using sleep sheep and other devices that go in/on the crib. Companies market these products as safe, which obviously they aren't.
Agree with PP's, used on a lower setting not too close to baby and it's fine. Along the same lines, watch out for some baby toys. Some are so loud- hurts MY ears! Geez!! I put tape over the toy's speakers to dampen the sound.
It's one study. Every study has it's bias. I'm not planning to stop using white noise based on this alone.
agreed!
we have the white noise machine across the room from the crib. I think everything's ok. He has a cold now and I think the humidifier I'm running in his room is louder than I usually have the white noise machine.
