NSAIFR: Lent anyone?

I know we've got a few Catholics on here... Who all celebrates/practices Lent over here? What are you giving up this year? What have you done in the past that has been good?
I'm really struggling with it this year. The best thing I've ever done is one year I gave up road rage. Any time I got upset in my car, I donated a dollar to my church. I can't believe how bad my road rage was, and how much better it got in 6 weeks.

I'm going to try REALLY hard to give up sweets. I always fail at Lent.

I usually give up one of my two faves - diet coke or coffee. BUT since we are cycling I already gave those up for my FET so I'm trying to stop swearing, too. I don't have a terrible potty mouth, but DH and I are trying our best to clean up the language before G starts talking. This will be a good reason to start!

Happy Mardi Gras btw! I had planned on making pancakes this morning for G but completely forgot so I had instant oatmeal and she had yogurt. Boo.

Yes! Happy Mardi Gras! I tried to get mh to agree to pancakes for dinner, but it was a no go. Party pooper!
I did cursing one year too. That was a hard one!

I'm Presbyterian, but I try to give up something for Lent. I've done road rage, cursing, and sweet drinks in the past. The road rage and cursing went well, but I ended up subbing cookies for sweet drinks and gained a few pounds- so fail on that one.

This year, I'm giving up cakes, cookies, candy, etc. Nursing gave me a wicked sweet tooth and I need to get it under control. I'm pretty sure I'm subbing sugar for caffeine (I gave it up about 4 mos ago). Not okay.

Giving up stuff never works for me, but I am going to try and really put aside my phone as much as possible.  I can't say I'll give it up because I use it a lot during downtime at work but when I'm home, I'm going to try and stop instagramming, pinteresting, texting and bumping as much as I do.  I need to soak up as much DS / DH time as possible.  I don't even do it purposely, it's just a habit for me to constantly check my phone.  I need to stop!!

Ugh I dunno. DH said he was giving up alchy starting today. Which is a great thing..but makes me sad because I was looking forward to sharing a nice bottle of something when the baby comes. I have no clue what to give up. I stink at sticking to things. But road rage is a good one TJ. Actually I should work on my mouth before DS really picks up my language

I'm not giving anything up, per se.... but what I am going to really try hard to do is eat better during lent.  I do follow the no meat on Ash Wednesday (today) and not meat on Friday's during lent.  Hopefully it will lead to better eating habits moving forward.

I'm thinking about adding a good habit instead of stopping a bad one. I have been terrible about praying. I used to pray before bed every night. But I've been so tired I've been falling asleep without praying. I also want to teach E her prayers.

I like the idea to add a good habit @TJ1979 I'm trying to be more confident in my parenting decisions (I find that I question every little thing I do and it annoys me, even down to what and how much I feed her).

That being said, I am also giving up caffeine (slowly) and I'm trying to actually use/follow some of my pinterest pins for fitness! Lol, I have so many exercises pinned and thought this would be perfect excuse to push myself to do them. So deep and religious of me
