Would you Wake DD?

I posted earlier that DD was diagnosed with the flu today.  Well she's been napping now going on 3 1/2 hours!  She usually only naps for 1 hour.  It's 5:15 here & her normal bedtime is 8 pm.  Would you wake her or let her sleep since she's sick?

Re: Would you Wake DD?

  • I'd probably wake her and try to get her to eat some dinner. Then I'd put on a movie for a little bit and I can almost guarantee that she will go back to bed pretty close to normal bedtime. The flu makes you feel SO bad. I hope she gets well soon.

I disagree with PP and I would keep her sleeping.  The flu has to suck.  Heck, I like extra sleep when I have a cold.  When my DD is sick, all bets are off- I allow as MUCH sleep as she wants, it helps them heal.  It's likely her bed time schedule won't mess up even if she sleeps extra.  The flu is tiring.

I haven't woken her up so she's still sleeping.  Thanks for the advice.  Even though she had the flu last year I think I caught it sooner & she didn't sleep longer than usual.  I can remember being sick with the flu when I was little & falling asleep on the couch.

Should I let her sleep as long as she sleeps or wake her for dinner later?

  • Eee, hard to saaay... I'd let her go to 6:00 pm then wake her, I think. She'll still be tired enough to go to bed, when you have the flu you're always tired.

Thanks!  She just woke up & said she's hungry.  I bet that's what woke her up since she didn't eat much at breakfast or lunch.  Off to make "egg in a hole" for dinner.  It's a first for me & DD LOVES eggs.
