There is a little girl at gymboree that is a day older than emery. She walked up to me today and had a full conversation with me. WTF?! A full conversation! And she walked up and said hi emery and gave her a hug. Emery can't even say Emery. I fail at lyfe. No more buppies for Emery! (Not really but ykwim)

I feel like that everytime im around my friends daughter, she can practically sell cars at this point. Frankie is just screaming and speaking in tongues. You can be a failure with me

Ha a fellow SAHM that I'm friends with & hang out with quite a bit has a little smarty pants - she just turned 2 but has been speaking in complete sentences for at least 6 months. Knows all her colors/shapes and can count to 10. The mom doesn't brag about it or anything but I also feel that I've failed at life!

Right?! Her kid was all cute and chatty. It was like talking to a mini adult. Mine was in the background throwing herself on the mats and screaming SNACK! SNACK!

I try to work with him and his words and he just does this baby alien language. I'm like "BALL, BABY, BOOK, TRUCK, SQUARE" and he just sits and looks at me like I have a penis on my forehead. Then leaves the room and there I sit all alone surrounded by failure.

Heh - I'm with hijinx.  Even "snack!"  would be a major accomplishment.

Someday you will be DYING for her to shut up, and yet somehow you STILL won't know wtf she wants. I had this conversation with my 4yo (B) and his 4yo friend (H) today at lunch.

Me: What do y'all want for lunch?
B: You know Kyla and Lucy are girls, right?
H: Yeah, but Ben, we really need to race these cars.
Me: Peanut butter sandwiches?
B: They are two girls in my class.
H: You can have the blue one even though it's my favorite. But that's really not fair because I want it.
Me: Roast beef?
B: You can have the blue car, it's ok. Mom, I'm letting H have the blue car, ok?
Me: Ok. What do you want for lunch?
B: Ummm...
H: Let me think about that.
B: Wait! I want the blue car!
H: ok you can have it.
Me: Does anyone want to eat??
B: H, I also have four boys in my class and six girls. Can you believe that?!
H: Yeah. The race is about to start!
Me: WHAT ARE WE ALL TALKING ABOUT??!

B & H: MONSTER TRUCKS!

I did not make this up.

At least when they are little and they talk the conversations are cute. Talking in circles with a 16 year old is exhausting!

I have been obsessing over how little Avery is talking. DD#1 was talking way more at this age (but not in full sentences at this age). The pedi has repeatedly told me Avery is developing at an appropriate rate and DD#1 must have just been advanced.

FWIW - DD#1 is what I would consider fairly average compared to her peers now, so early speech development did not help her graduate college at 3- lol.

Oh my!  That seems a little advanced?  We are just now trying to say our name.  I would have felt a little weirded out by such a little baby having a full conversation.
