DD started asking to take showers shortly before 4. I would say that 75% of the time she still asks to take a bath. I usually have her take a shower on preschool mornings since they are faster.
We sometimes give them a choice and dd will shower with me sometimes, to save time (my kids are 4.5)...mostly they take baths though bc giving a simultaneous bath is a lot easier than a simultaneous shower! I don't think I started showering until like fourth grade though I don't really recall...???
DD started at about 3.5 doing a shower once a week or so. She consistently started taking showers at 5. She now only takes baths for fun or is she is sick. DS hasn't started taking showers at all. He is afraid of them

thanks everyone for the info, my son who is almost 5. and half is really afraid of the shower and i really want him to start taking them. i don't know how to make him ok with it ive been trying every way i can think of to make it ok for him. im hoping to try again soon and see what happens.
DD was really afraid at first b/c she doesn't like water in her face. We started off by getting in our bathing suits and getting in the shower. I told her we were playing splash park. From there I put her in there by herself with her bathing suit, and finally convinced her she didn't need a bathing suit anymore. She's still kinda iffy on getting water in her face but she's getting better.
My son hated showers at first, too. He really hates getting water in his eyes. I let him get in and play pretend (he's a car at the car wash, or playing in the sprinklers in the summertime). He washes himself, and then we do his hair last with the detachable shower head. He still hates that part, but it's usually not as bad because he's having fun.
While on vacation last summer there was no tub to bathe DS. DH got him in the shower with him, made it silly and fun. He hopped out so I could soap him up and then rinsed him off. Showers now are once in a while, if we don't have time for a bath but he needs something. I let him stand at the back of the tub, turn the shower on and he eases his body towards the water, gets himself all wet. Were still working on the hair lol. I'll turn off the shower so the water runs in the tub- soap him up then turn it back on (again he stands at the back of tub while I turn the shower head on). He rinses himself and I stick my arms in to help rinse his hair. DS is now 4.5
My boys turned 5 in Jan. We've done showers occasionally since they were 3.5-4ish. Not often though, but I'd like to have them start doing showers more often now that they're older.
DD was about 3-3.5 when she started taking them. She still will do baths sometimes- just whatever she feels like on the particular occasion. Sometimes DS joins her. He's 2 and loves showers.
DS actually preferred showers around age 4.. now he likes to wash his hair and body in the shower then wants to hop in the bathtub for fun. DH lets him waste all that water!
Due to a lack of time our 3 year old and 5.5 year old get mostly just showers. DS, who is 5.5 hates water and fights us. I am sure our 3 year old will showered independatly before her brother.

DS, newly three, showers about once a week, sometimes more. He decides if he would rather have a shower or bath, and he's starting to like showers (at first he didn't).
DD1 is 4 and still takes only baths. She just recently began showing an interest in showering but my 2.5 year old is still terrified of the shower at this point. Since I don't want to have to do a bath and a shower at night (one for each), I still bathe them together. My plan is that when DD3 is old enough to bathe with DD2, I'll start giving DD1 showers.
