Chronic eye infections since leaving NICU

Has anyone else had this? I posted a photo below to explain a little better. One of my twins has these two holes (I'm assuming extra tear ducts) on both sides of his nose. The pedi said it was because he wasn't fully developed and said it wasn't to be of any concern or to worry about his eye infections in both eyes. That they will just resolve on their own. Something just seems off and I'm now seeking a pediatric opthomlogist. But in the mean time have any of you delt with this? I never would have noticed them because they are in the little crease under his eye. But as I was wiping his eyes with a little warm wet cloth I saw them and could see they also had the goopy stuff. It's just so strange to me his pedi just wrote it off like no big deal. Basically saying it's because he was preterm.

Also I should mention when he nurses milk will end up coming out them as well a his nose. Sorry the photo is hard to see. He was wiggling all over the place but they are on the inside corners just next to his eye.


ETA: he has tried a few ointments and drops
