I've contemplated supplementing with formula at DC for a long time now, and this weekend I finally swallowed my pride and let him taste some. I mixed up a 2 oz bottle of whatever non-expired pepsi I had stashed away Saturday and he LOVED it! Took it down like a champ. I tested another 2 oz later in the evening and again, he loved it. No gas or vomit issues, no crazy diapers. I feel so relieved that I can just rely on formula during DC hours and cut back my pumping to 1-2x per day.
My biggest hurdle? "Will I be OK not being able to say later on that he NEVER had an ounce of formula?" I hated that I had that thought in my head. I've been very non-judgy wudgy against all the Pepsi feeders out there, but I could apply the same to myself. Finally I decided Sanity > Pride and went for it.
Thank you to everyone who helped me out and supported me the last couple months with my "he drinks more than I pump" issues. I'm happy to say Sully made it 6 mo and 3 weeks exclusively on breast milk. Now he is lovin' a little Pepsi, too.
