Re: Poll: Bed rest after ET

  • My RE didn't put me on bed rest but since we had a previous failed cycle and my H had the time off of work I just put myself on bed rest for a couple days and he did everything for me.

  • I had just one day of bed rest recommended, which I did. I took it easy for a couple extra days too.
  • @boyankl ~ Wishing you the best in your upcoming cycle!

  • They didn't give me a strict bed rest order but told me to relax and rest up and that if I had to do any shopping (ET was on Black Friday) that it better be online. They also told us to watch funny movies because laughter improves the chances of implantation, so DH and I were parked on the couches all day watching funny rom coms. Good luck with your ET!

  • My clinic's discharge papers said 3 days of strict bed-rest, but I asked my RE and he said just to take it easy. My ET was the day before Thanksgiving and for T.day dinner we went to a hotel buffet. I just walked slow and avoided stairs. DH was off wandering around and my FIL was following me to make sure I didn't fall or anything like that. lol For those 3 days I did a lot of sitting to read and watch movies, and took several naps.

First fresh cycle I did 2 days but really layed around for a few and it was BFN. Fet #1 2 days bed rest = bfn and this cycle the rest of the day "bed rest" and thats all it was day before Thanksgiving and I went black friday shopping = bfp. I truly believe itll either work or not. Obviously take ot easy but for me bed reat made no difference.

    After 4+ years TTC

    FET #2 = DS Madden Jeffery <3 July 29, 2014 <3
  • My RE recommended 2 days of being off my feet as much as possible. The first day, I was on the couch or in bed for about 95% of the day. The second day, I definitely walked around more, we went for breakfast, I walked up and down the stairs, but for the most part, was off my feet.
Me (31) - PCOS with insulin resistance

4 rounds of Clomid = no response
    IVF # 1 - ET (1 3AA, 4 frosties): 12/22 = BFP
    EDD: 9/9/2014

  • I voted "none". Two of my ivf cycles were no bed rest, back to work. My 3rd (and successful so far!!) transfer was a 24 hr bed rest. I returned to work the next day. Good luck!!

    ***** All Welcome *******

  • I did not do bed rest after any of my 3 transfers.  All resulted in pregnancy (two ended in miscarriage, but I hardly think that has anything to do with bed rest -- clearly there was no problem with implementation).

After this last transfer, I got in a car, drove 2.5 hours to Maine, and spent the weekend apple picking, making cider, going for walks, and cooking.  I wasn't doing hard-core exercise, but I was more active than not.

I don't believe there's any evidence that bed rest improves outcome in IVF cycles.

  • SS here. I answered 1-2 days bedrest but with my first transfer I went right back to work an hour after and was in court for a hearing that afternoon, lifting my heavy briefcase.  It was a bfp, but turned out to be ectopic.  My RE basically said we could do bed rest if we wanted to but there are no studies that really back it up.  He's all about doing whatever makes you feel better.

So for the next two FETs we did bed rest.  My RE does his FETs on Friday afternoons so I took the rest of the day off of work and laid around Friday afternoon and Saturday.  By Sunday I was too antsy to sit still and was more active, then back to a normal schedule Monday.  The first time we did bed rest after a FET it was a BFN but the second time got me here!

Good luck!  Hope to see you over here soon!
