how much does your toddler eat in DC?

i am just worried because there are days when she just eats one or two servings of cereal, soft boiled egg, milk and cut up fruits. Most days though she eats rice. she is 3 years old. DCP says she sometimes does not have enough appetite and gets just so busy with playing. I told them to make sure she eats wel. she drinks a lot of water BTW In her food boz i pack usually fish sillet and rice, a yogurt pack, milk, egg, cereal, rice and viand, cut up fruits etc, but im just concerned when she does not eat enough carbs :( she is still ok in terms of wait accdg to the pedi, and that she still nurses at homee and eats a ricemeal/pasta plus a snack when she gets home. i just wanted to know how much other kids eat. TIA

Re: how much does your toddler eat in DC?

  • I don't think there's any way make a toddler eat more, so I'm not sure what you want them to do besides give her the food. Many times my DS would eat nothing for lunch. My pediatrician says its totally normal for a toddler to skip meals or skip eating at all on some days.
Sounds like your kid is eating a lot of food. I think you should worry more about creating a pleasant relationship with food instead of how much your kid eats at lunch.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

    My Charts since 2009

  • DD eats a lot.  DS is picky and doesn't eat much, most days.  They are both healthy, and I don't worry about it.
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

  • The only question I have is you said she gets so busy playing that she doesn't really eat much. Is DCP sitting her down for regular meals? Not sure if she is at a center on in home. If she is not at a center I would still expect my childcare provider to have a regular schedule of sit down for lunch and snacks to be sure she is focused on eating, not just grazing for food in between running around.

This....if she is still not eating then there is no much you can do but as long as DCP is offering foods at consistent meal time, thats good. DS eats usually breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack..he also has milk with breakfast and lunch and water throughout the day.  then we have dinner together around 6pm give or take depending when we get home.  THere was a day  last week he didnt have his afternoon snack but thats because he slept longer than normal and DH picked him up a little early, so there wasnt time.
  • thanks for your responses, and yes they have a set time to sit down for lunch. At least im not worried now. will strive harder to give more balanced meals. regards!
