BTDT BF Moms- ? about teeth

Noah loves to chew on everything and today he was chewing on my hand and I felt something hard on his bottom gums.  Sure enough there is a tooth there not quite ready to pop through.   I was hoping we would have another month or two before we had to worry about this since I BF whenever I am home and pump at work.   

Tell it to me straight BTDT breastfeeding mommas-- does it hurt to nurse when LO has teeth?

It doesn't! I nursed my son until he was 18mo. He bit me maybe three times? And once was on the night he self weaned and said "no!" to nursing.

Only when they start biting
With dd1 she would only bite down when she was having a rough time teething. Otherwise on a regular basis it wasn't a problem.

I too notice DD's gums thinning out and getting sharp. But it still might be a month or so before that tooth pops through.

I nursed DD2 for a year and only had about 3 or so times where she got distracted and bit me lightly. Made me jump but no damage done. The tongue goes over their bottom gums so those never phased me. The upper teeth are the ones to watch for. It'll be ok though.

Be prepared to break the latch. If they bite it will hurt, but if you jump it will startle them more than you.

I would say it was painful the few bites I got, but if you break the latch, they will get the idea that it isn't something they should be doing.

I hated nipple pulling more than biting.

DD1 had her first tooth by 4 months, and all of the others early too. She was good until 13 months and then she started biting. She wouldn't stop biting so we stopped nursing then.

Quinn has 3 teeth coming in...way too early for my liking. She is 14 wks old.

LO started teething at 8 weeks. But they're still not through his gums yet. And he's 14 weeks.

Thanks so much for your words of wisdom!  Glad we don't have to worry yet. It's through the top of his gum, but maybe it will just hang out there for a while before it comes in all the way.  These babies are growing too fast!!

My first 2 didn't have teeth until after their first birthdays so hoping to not have to find out how this feels.
