My LO is 4 months as of 3-1. He still isn't grabbing things. He tries but just isn't getting it down. Is there somethings I can do to help him? What did you do? Does it just come naturally? What toys did you use? TIA
My LO is just over 4 months old and started around 3-4 weeks ago. It kind of came naturally, but on his bouncer and playmat there are hanging toys and those helped him learn a lot!
My LO is 4 months tomorrow & has been grabbing 3-4 weeks. Everyday since he was 2 months I'd hand him things anything from soft rattles to his pacifier even his like burp cloth at first id open his hand and help him grab it sometimes he'd just drop it but eventually he got better now he's holding his own bottles, shaking his rattles for good periods of time, putting his own teethers and paci in his mouth as well as grabbing things near him. oh and I put him on his play gym mat with the hanging toys daily!
LO started grabbing a little before 3 months. He started with the o-ball rattle and o-ball football and now he is 5 months and grabs anything he can get his hands on. The o-ball was easy for him to grab since there are so many areas to get their little fingers around
He has been grabbing since about 3 months but never held onto anything for very long until closer to four months. And is just now getting more enthusiastic about it (only about 2 weeks older than your LO). He really loves the hanging toys over his playmat. He does get a little discouraged sometimes, because the toys are close enough to grab and pull, but not quite close enough to get into his mouth. I do enjoy watching him try. lol.
Around 4 months she would swat at the toys on her playmat. But just now at 5.5 months she is slowly reaching for a toy held out in front of her. It seems to take a lot of concentration to focus on the object and get her hand to move towards it.
Around 2.5 months. He kind of has always grabbed for things but the past month and a half he's been really holding on and playing with things. I think it'll just come when it comes! Babies will be babies.
Thanks ladies! I'm going to purchase that O ball now, thx for the rec! He does grab things that are placed near his hands and he doesn't hold on for very long and he gets very frustrated with himself. He stares at his hands like he really really wants to figure out how to use them. I guess every baby is different. My LO was 6 weeks premature so I should take that into account too. He's caught up to the rest of the 4 month olds in weight and height though so...
OMg I'm glad someone asked this. I was wondering the same thing. The only thing my LO holds onto is my finger when i put it there. Otherwise he just stares at his toys and mayb I'll get an occasional reach with his FEET. lol. ( >.< )
My little guy first started grabbing the day he turned 3 months old. He wasn't too coordinated at first, or very enthusiastic about it, but it's been two weeks and he gets better every day!
My pedi just told us that at about 6 mos., babies will start to deliberately grab things. At 3-5 mos., it's just random swatting and holding on. That said, our LO is 4 1/2 mos., and he's definitely starting to grab. Especially my nose and my hair. Ow!
Re: When did your LO learn to grab things?
Anyway, thanks again!
