1st Trimester

Spotting.... still!

Hey pretty mommas!

I have been spotting with this pregnancy since 5w+6ds. I only remember the specific date because I went to the doctor sobbing, worried that I was going to lose the baby. We had just had a D&C for a blighted ovum pregnancy in October. Miraculously enough, at 3.1mm, little bean's heart was beating away AUDIBLY, pleasing the dr quite well. The spotting has come and gone throughout the pregnancy thus far and now at 12w+2d, I am STILL having bouts of spotting. We've had FOUR!!!! sonograms already and the baby has been measuring right on target/slightly bigger every time, HB at 170.

I'm beginning to think I'm doomed to spot this entire pregnancy. Any other mommies out there "enoying" this same LOVEEELY symptom?

  • Oh at this point, I'm not worried.
I just think it's unusual and I haven't heard of it many cases so I was just curious :)
Our OB has been a real gem at calming my nerves and doing a bazillion sonos and cervix checks to relax me.

  • I have been spotting brown blood once or twice a day starting week 7. Ultrasound showed beating heart. Doctor is not sure what to think of it.
  • I've spotted from 7 weeks to around 15 weeks. Currently going on 29 weeks and haven't had anymore spotting.

With DS, I spotted several times until I was about 10 weeks, and then it stopped.  It wasn't constant - just a few scary times where I got bright red blood.  Spotting during pregnancy isn't unusual, and so far, it seems like everything has been okay with your tests.  You may or may not continue to spot throughout your pregnancy.  I would guess that it will stop soon as you get to your 2nd trimester (but I'm not a doctor, so I'm guessing)

I'm only 4 weeks, but I have been spotting (brown) since Wednesday.  I'm trying not to worry because I think I'm a spotter.

  • I had spotting last week. Has the doctor mentioned putting you on pelvic rest? That's what mine did and I haven't spotted since. No heavy lifting, no strenuous exercise, no sex, and NO cervical checks. Your cervix is incredibly vascular at this point so of course it will bleed! That is probably some of the brown spotting you're seeing.
  • Obviously someone is a little rude, goodness. Checking my cervix to see if it was dilated and see if I was in the middle of miscarrying or if it was unrelated. Heavens.

  • And yes, she did put me on pelvic rest.
The spotting is unrelated to her checking my cervix a few times, but we WERE already spotting, she wanted to make sure I wasn't dilated an in the middle of m/cing.

Stop having cervical checks during 1st trimester and that should solve a lot of your spotting issues.

Your OB certainly is a gem, and dumb as shit if they are doing cervical checks at this point. What the actual fuck.

@rachelrogers2013- Telling you that your doctor is a moron is not against the terms of service. And your doctor is an idiot for doing that.

You have a serious attitude problem.
I was looking for some feedback from women with similar experiences.
There is no reason for you to be a snarky brat about the woman who I chose as my health care provider through my pregnancy and delivery.

You would think as a bunch of women we'd be supportive of each other through these types of life experiences but NO, I suppose not.

Thanks anyways for your input though,
I can see you obviously have some other things on your mind.
