nursing bra discomforts!

So basically I cant find any nursing bras that are comfortable. The little snap/latch area on the strap irritates my skin so bad I can only wear them for a few hours. Any DIY moms out there with any ideas to make my own nursing bra contraption? Im very crafty but my pregnant brain has taken over my crafty problem solving brain. Or has anyone with this problem been able to find anything comfortable?

Re: nursing bra discomforts!

  • Sorry, but for me with my DS, I had 5 or 6 different brands of nursing bras and they all sucked. GL with your search, I will let you know if I find one this time that is more comfortable.

  • Are you talking about the little plastic piece that unstraps the cup? Wrap the strap in fabric or a band aid to keep it off your skin.

  • I have had the same problem. I try it on in the store and it seems to be comfortable, but then when I wear it for a day, it rubs the skin on my back raw so I have to return it. I've been through several!! I finally found one from Motherhood Maternity that I love, but it irritated me just little. It was like part of the stitching on the clasp had hard plastic melted on it or something, so I just took a nail file and filed it down until it was soft. Now it's very comfortable! Here's the link:
  • I think Medela makes stretchy soft ones that just pull down, no clip needed. Not the most supportive, but it was the most comfortable one I had last time around.
  • @shayc1225 - you flagged me. You can remove it by clicking "love it"

  • I have a Jessica Simpson one from Motherhood Maternity where the plastic part of the clip doesn't touch my skin directly, there's still fabric running underneath. I'm just wearing it for sleeping since LO hasn't arrived yet, but it is definitely one of the more comfortable ones I've gotten so far.

  • I bought a few nursing bras with my first, but I never really used them because they were uncomfortable and also I wasn't very good at clicking that thing back into place ha!  I ended up just using a regular bra while I nursed both her and my son.  I got a thick-ish satiny bra from VS so it was nice and smooth on my nipples. When I nursed I just popped my boob out of the cup and popped it back in when I was done.  A bit unconventional, I know, but it worked for me and I plan on doing the same this time around.
