The Listening Program

Hi All!  It has been quite a while since I posted.  DS was diagnosed with Sensory Modulation Dysfunction in June, is considered high risk for ADHD, speech delayed and has low muscle tone.  The Dev. Ped says we can not rule out ASD completely yet.  He currently received OT and Behavioral therapy through EI and OT and Speech privately once per week.  He was just assigned a PAC to be with him during his preschool time.  He is very impulsive and jumps around a lot when in overstimulating situations.  He has a very hard time focusing.

His private OT is licensed in The Listening Program and we will be starting it shortly.  Have any of you tried this?  I would love to hear about your experiences.  I would also love any ideas on how to find the program used as it is quite expensive.

Thanks!

Re: The Listening Program

  • We do therapeutic listening but our only cost was the headphones with the music player. Our OT has a lending library, and we only do 15 min. DD enjoys it, but I am not sure we have seen results because of it.

What Auntie said is true, it seems to make a difference while she listens, but it is difficult to determine if it is lasting.

  • Our OT is Licensed in the program and would be monitoring and guiding us through it.  She said there are specific types of things he should be doing during the cds and there are lots of things to look behavior-wise.

She has tried the CDs a few times during her sessions with DS and has gotten a good response.  The last time he was more regulated for the rest of the day with me as well.  I'm hoping that was not just a coincidence. The OT is letting us borrow a copy of hers for 1 week before we make the purchase, to make sure that he will even comply.
