2nd Trimester

venting

I'm 21W2D pregnant today and I've gained 12 lbs so far. I had a perfect BMI pre-pregnancy.

So far unless I wear something that is absolutely fitted no one can tell am pregnant. I'm still wearing my size 6 fitted pants, the buttons stopped buttoning at 18W so I wear a bella band and most of my shirts are long and wide anyway.

I went to a party last night where everyone commented on how I'm not showing at all but that I'm getting chubby (I was wearing a quilted thick skirt and my hips are very wide as I'm a pear shape, doesn't matter how thin I get, my hips (bone wise) are very wide)...I'm not in a hurry for my bump to stick out at all..but being told that "you don't look pregnant at all, just chubby" is something stupid and should never be said to anyone pregnant or not!

and being told that "your getting heavier at the bottom" is also very inaccurate because that's where I've been heavier all my life and the skirt I wore wasn't helping, if I was getting heavier at the bottom I wouldn't have been able to still wear my tight pants comfortably! it's like saying oh you don't look like your gaining pregnancy weight, but that it's all going to your butt! WTF?!

When I'm dressed for work people ask me if I'm losing weight, confusing much?! cause am wearing my pants and flowy shirts.

couldn't be mean to these people as they are my mother's old friends...wanted to throw tantrums though especially when I was told to sit down and not dance cause am pregnant by like 3 or more women!!!!!

  • I'm sorry! It is extremely annoying! Think of it this way: the less weight you gain the easier delivery it will make & easier for you to bounce back after baby is born (bounce back as in feeling better & your energy, not weight wise). 12lb weigh gain is right where you wanna be at 21 weeks. So next time someone has comments for you just smile & say "thanks, I'm enjoying being comfortable & active, & not miserable, during my pregnancy"

Ummmmmmmm... sounds like you had a rough night and will probably have a pretty rough pregnancy with this kind of attitude

    It's a BOY

  • I'm not being told I'm not gaining enough I'm being told that I'm gaining weight but in my butt rather than in my belly!

Maybe if you wear a sign?  Seriously, girl.  I agree that it is going to be a long pregnancy if this is the kind of stuff that is getting to you.  You're going to hear way worse down the line.

Read247 LOL I wish I had a proper butt! but I don't! and that's what pisses me off, the comments were completely not true. I'm already having a hard time accepting the weight gain as I struggled with weight gain for a long period of time.

haha my God Hathaway is going at it

I'm easily provoked...God, my mom is already anticipating the fun she'll have watching me deal with my baby once she arrives...I do need to learn to calm down and ignore people

  • I've gained most of my weight in my hips and my butt, but I'm embracing it. I love my big ol' butt! LOL! But seriously when it comes to pregnant women people have no filter when it comes to their comments. Just nod, smile and keep it moving. You're growing a human and there are a lot of women who would do ANYTHING to be pregnant and hear rude comments and unsolicited advice. Just enjoy the pregnancy.
