So those contractions continued all night long at about 10 mins apart and then slowly progressed until 7 mins and eventually 5.5 mins apart. I woke DH at 6am to say I was going to shower and that we'd need to pack the car and get our DD to my parents house (they are watching her while we are in the hospital). I showered and noticed my contractions were moving closer to 5 mins apart so I told DH (who is notorious for long shower taking) to take a quick shower so he can pack up the car and we can go. While he showered I packed up last minute things for our hospital bags when I could (between strong contractions) and then when DH was out he got DD for me to snuggle with while e finished packing and loaded the car. DD who just turned 2 could tell something was up. She was very clingy and during contractions showed concern (no matter how I tried to mask the pain). Plus she was up a half hour from when she normally is up (usually she's in the crib until 7am every morning playing quietly/sleeping until we get her). Once the car was packed we got DD in her jacket, hat and gloves (while still in her pjs) and headed the short drive to my parents house (7 mins away).DH made the mistake of telling DD we were going to get the baby so DD was crying when we got to my parents and there wasn't any baby there. Lol. I stayed in the car and kissed her bye bye while DH dropped her off. Then it was off to the hospital. Checked in at 7:30am and put on monitors. By then I was every 4 mins and intense. Waited to hear they were in fact keeping me and asked for my epi. Waited for my epi until 11am and handled some strong contractions until then. Didn't help our room was hot as hell. Once I had the epi I was able to listen to my music and snooze. I went from 4cm to 6cm quickly and then 7, 8 and 9 after that and stayed at 9 from 2pm-5:30pm. My epi wore off and they debated giving me more bc they weren't sure if I'd be pushing soon. FINALLY after 2 hours and no progress I got a redoes and was able to snooze a bit more. The waiting was frustrating but also good bc my normal OBGYN was on a field trip with her son until 4. DH ran into her in the hallway getting me water and she came in to check me. She saw I was finally at 10 but that LO was not descending. She told me it was due to her size/my pelvis and that we'd try pushing but would not force it and that we wouldn't use the vacuum or forceps. She said if no movement we'd do csection. After 20 mins of pushing DD2 finally arrived! Alyssa Kimberley (spelled like my sister's name) was born at 6:02pm at 8 lbs 8 ounces. She has latched like a champ and is a sleeping pro (for now). We are in love! Here are some pics!!
