Natural Birth

Books

I apologize in advanced if this had been asked before.

I plan on having an natural birth with in a hospital. I was wondering what books you've read that could help me and my husband.

Re: Books

  • I read "A thinking womans guide to a better birth" by Henci Goer.  It is geared towards hospital births and goes through all the interventions you may encounter and the pro/con of each. It is really informative and I found it to be the best source of info for my natural hospital birth. I like Ina Mays books as well.

  • I just read Birthing From Within and I really enjoyed it.  It is geared towards home births, in fact the author is against hospital births, but it has a lot of no-nonsense advice for labor and birth.  I ordered Natural Hospital Birth because I've heard good things.
  • I read "The idiots guide to natural hospital birth" and it was helpful. It went through the interventions and reasons to avoid them.
  • I just finished reading Natural Hospital Birth, and I enjoyed it. I'm attempting a natural VBAC, and I liked that there was an entire chapter devoted to VBACS, trauma from a previous birth experience, and other special circumstances in addition to the normal information on birth plans, interventions to avoid, etc.
