Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Sleeping patterns

Bay is now 2 months old and is very inconsistent with sleeping and eating. She loves her bottle every 2 hours mostly but sometimes 3-4 and can go from 7:30pm-1am on occasion. I wanted to see what advice moms have to get her to sleep longer and maybe eat more at a time. She eats 2.5-3oz per feeding and is about 9lbs. She was born at 37 weeks at 5.13lbs so I'm not sure if she's small for 8 weeks or if that even has anything to do with how she may sleep?

Re: Sleeping patterns

  • My almost 3 month old seems to have the following schedule:

8 am - wake up (sort of), 5 oz bottle
    8:30-10 - nap
    12 - 5 oz bottle
    12:30-2 - nap
    4 - 5 oz bottle
    5-6:30 - nap
8 - 5 oz bottle (after this we do a night time routine, bath, cuddles and story then she goes to sleep in her bed.)
12 - 7 oz bottle (she is awake for about 45 minutes total, then back to bed)
  • My 10 week old DD often sleeps 8 hours without eating she makes up for it when she gets up.

  • I also say your kid is right on track.

In this house for the most part eating and sleeping are something they tend to grow into more than anything.

My first born would eat all day, barely nap but sleep ALL night. My NB eats every 2 hours around the clock still, but is quickly getting better about night sleep.

    It just takes time.

  • Ok you guys make me feel a little better :-) I saw on one board so many moms saying how at 8 weeks babies are sleeping through the night or at least 6 hours! I know all babies are different but it's so frustrating not knowing if you're doing everything right. Thanks for all the feedback.

Don't worry about it. ;) People lie. A lot. Ha. ;)

If they're not lying it's luck and nothing more. ;)

My firstborn was a natural born sleep all nighter and I freely admit I did nothing to help or hinder it. It's just who she was.
