We're bidding on a house in another state after only DH got to see it on a business trip. I really hope we get it, but it will be a bit of a surprise to me once we'll go down and see it.
Congrats! We just listed our house and have been working on staging. Can I ask what you did?
@SarahL77 Good luck with your sale! I hope you get a quick offer.
We got a storage locker and moved everything we didn't absolutely need there. We painted the kitchen, toned down a dark accent wall in the living room by matching an existing light blue on the next wall. We also lightened up the hallway by painting a neutral color.
We took away all personal pictures. I switched out some pictures for fabric and a pretty art post card.
We also emptied everything from counters, night stands, dresser, sinks, etc. We put up white towels in the bathrooms and white shower curtains. Apparently it makes the space seem bigger.
We set up a pretty dining room table. We bought fresh flowers for open house. I even baked cookies for the nice smell.
I hid all laundry baskets and kids toys that were not in organizers. We also made sure to pair down on furniture and stage an office as a bedroom by borrowing a twin bed.
We also fixed up small things that might have been noticed like broken marble at the entryway. We changed old ceiling fans with modern light fixtures.
We also got a new laminate counter for the kitchen and a new double sink. I polished the stainless steel on the sink and appliances before each showing.
My head is spinning writing out this list. We did all this last month.
Do what you can to make the space seem bigger and uncluttered and it will make a difference. Good luck!
