I love the name Calista, and I wouldn't worry about Calista Flockhart. Parents might think it, but the kids won't have any idea who she is unless watching Ally McBeal somehow becomes retro-cool for them--in which case they'll think your daughter's name is awesome.

IMHO, I like Calista Lilyanne better than Calista Lillian. The pronunciation just sounds better to me, but as I said, that's my opinion.

There's a new show on Disney Jr. called Sheriff Callie's Wild West and the theme song goes "Call-EE-O-PEE!!" and it's totally ruined the name Calliope for me. It's almost as bad as Caillou IMO.

My nieces name is Calista, for the Hindu goddess of destruction or something. We call her Cali. I honestly do NOT remember her middle name! I'm a terrible aunt.

I have a friend who named her kiddo that!  She calls her Callie for short.  Love it!

To jump back in, we're considering the name Caleigh (pronounced the same as Callie)- maybe this could be an option?

I'm not big on the name but I think it goes back to not being a big fan of Calista Flockhart. But I just had a friend name her baby Calliann and I think that's pretty cute. However that wouldn't go with Lillian as a mn.

You ladies are wonderful. Thank you for all these comments. I've been calling the baby Calista all weekend and it is really growing on me. We probably will shorten it to Callie but aren't concerned with the NN at this point. I'm sure it'll just come out one day!

I think it's safe to say Calliope is forever out for us and a lot of you too. It's just one of those names I'll always have to look at before saying or spelling!
