Sleep issues: Help!

To think, I just bragged about how well my son (29mos, speech delay) was doing. Listening, paying attention, sitting when asked. He has also been doing really well at speech therapy.
Boy, oh boy, has he had a rough couple of days. He has been unusually disobedient at daycare (he just switched to the school 3 weeks ago) I can see him on internet monitoring and I can see he is not listening. he's acting out. He is also on a nap strike it seems for the last two days.
He had been sleeping 10-11 hours each night in his big boy bed...but then he got really sick at Christmas and got knocked off track. We haven't been able to get him on a good sleep schedule since. He goes to bed at 730. Falls asleep by 8-830. Wakes up at least once or twice every night for a diaper change and/or comfort.
Maybe it was mercury in retrograde, maybe it's this never-ending winter, maybe he's just having a rough couple of days, maybe it's that he's a 2 year old....maybe I'm overthinking all of this.
What can I do to get him back on track sleepwise? Should I just accept that he is the world's worst sleeper at the moment??? Mama is tired!

  • Lots of exercise during the day. Epsom salt baths in the evening. Badgers night night balm used as a massage oil has helped a lot too. You can get it on amazon or whole foods. https://www.badgerbalm.com/p-425-night-night-balm.aspx

  • Just curious, why is he waking at night for a diaper change?

Thanks, I'll have to try the Badgers night balm. He doesn't always need a diaper change but if my husband goes into his room to calm him down and sees he has a very wet diaper, he'll change him. I don't think he's waking up because of the diaper. He's waking up because he wants me. He'll go to the door and scream "mamamamama" until someone goes into the room. We are trying to break the habit and let him CIO.

  • I don't use it regularly but Hyland's Calm and restful 4 kids helped DS a lot. DS used to take over an hour to all asleep and wake up once or twice each night just for comfort. Hylands didn't help him fall asleep any faster but waking up in the middle of the night stopped with that.

Epsom salt baths is hat got him asleep faster.

  • Can I use the regular drug store epsom salts? I tried the Hyland's Calm and Restful once a couple of weeks ago and it was a disaster. It may have been coincidence but he was wired for HOURS.
