Thoughts on Orla?

What do you think of Orla for a girl? I think it's so simple and sweet, and matching sibling initials are a GP of mine (DS is Oscar Rhys). MN would be Myfanwy (muh-van-wee), LN sounds like Pannobello.

@bromios you're making me blush. Just checked and there were only 2 Orla's born in the past 5 years in my province. I'm falling deeper in love.

I also like Orlee... came across a toddler Orlee about a year ago. I've never looked into the name, but they are Jewish and for some reason I assumed that was the origin of the name as well.

I don't love it. Don't hate it, just don't love it. The MN is too unusual for my tastes. I just don't like it anywhere near as much as your son's name, sorry!

Unfortunately I would see Orla being teased with the word "oral" as a kid. I mean I went to school with a Lana and people called her Anal for years...

O names are hard for girls... but I suppose I like Olive, Oona, Odette, and Ophelia.

I think its really pretty    I love short sweet but spunky girl names and this totally feels that way to me

I was wondering if anyone would bring up the "oral" thing. That's the first potential problem with the name that came to mind.

I like it. There is a spunky little girl that goes to Mothers Day Out and is the same age as my DD named Orla (18months). I think it is a sweet name, but I do feel like I have a thick tongue when I say it.

What about Isla (pronounced eye-luh). I'm in love with it but DH hates it so I have no shot.

honestly I thought this was a joke when I first read it and not until I read the responses (and I thought the first one was actually sarcastic and then realized it wasn't).  IMHO Orla is not a pretty name....I think Oral and the sound of it itself isn't something that flows.  I can't even comment on the middle name.

My first thought was oral, but it's sort of growing on me, nms, but if you love it, go for it!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just realized that I missed a lot of the responses.

I don't know about the teasing issue.  I really believe that any name is teasable, and if you're not getting teased about your name, then you'll probably get teased about your appearance or a personality trait.  I mean, I'm not saying I would go out and name my kid Shyte or anything...
