Separation anxiety, me from DS

My DS will be 6 weeks old on Sunday which is also my birthday. My SIL is planning a day trip to a casino about 2 hours away on Saturday while my MIL keeps him for us. I completely trust her with him and I'm not worried about how she will do with him. My problem lies is I just plain don't want to leave him at all. The longest I've been away from him so far is a couple hours. How old were your babies before you spent the day away?

No advice here either. Just know you are not alone. I have the same anxiety, going to a wedding when baby will be 4 weeks old. I don't want to be away from her for 5 hrs. I just feel like no one can tell you when is the right time to be away from your baby. Only you can. Personally I feel like everyone wants me to take a night off, go out, clearly so they can babysit, and I see no reason to be away from my baby at this point. Go with your gut.

I'm having the same issue. My mom is coming into town so DH and I can go out on a date. LO is 7 weeks and I'm so stressed over the thought of leaving her for just a couple hours. I know she will be in great hands but I'm just having trouble with it. She's never been put to bed with a bottle so I don't know how she's going to do... I'm going to try to convince husband to go to a 4:30 dinner so we can be back before bedtime

Mine is 2 and a half months and I still have not left her. My first was 6 months before I left her for about an hr to go out to dinner with my h and a year before I left her for a couple hrs once a week for a class. I cried the entire way to school and back for the first month. I don't think my anxiety level was normal by any means but I think that everybody is different, just go with your gut. Good luck!

Honestly, the actually doing it for me is easier than the worrying about it beforehand.

Go enjoy yourself. You have trusted caregivers. It'll all be fine.
