Craving hotdogs??????

I am dying to eat a hotdog. The cheesy ones which cheddar inside OMG!.. But I heard hotdogs are not safe?? Any thoughts please

Hot dogs are rolled bologna - yuck!!!:( only way I like 'em is blackened on the grill. With relish and ketchup. And a toasted bun....hot dogs...mmmmmm....

I just asked my Dr. about this yesterday because I for one cannot imagine summertime without hot dogs. Hot dogs are fine. Just don't eat them raw/uncooked. They fall into the same safety rules as deli meat heated until steaming. So unless you're planning to eat them cold or uncooked it's totally fine to eat a dog off the grill

That's the advise I was given- I understand others may hold different opinions.

I craved hot dogs with my first pregnancy during first tri. I indulged in them until I learned they weren't the best thing to eat. Now, I don't crave them but still like them. I'd say in moderation you're fine. I was definitely not in moderation the first time around, lol.

I hadn't had one in 12 years before I got pregante with my first son then I HAD to have one (also ate boatloads of hamburgers that summer haha) it tasted amazing and only had one or 2 all summer and haven't had or wanted one since. Pregnancies are strange!

I'm actually not a hot dog fan asks maybe eat two a year at a bbq, but when I was pregnant with ds I enjoyed a hot dog at Costco after most of my checkups since Costco was so close. It's actually the sauerkraut I wanted, dh would order sauerkraut and give me his because he doesn't like it. Somewhere I'm sure there's a photo of me nomming on a hot dog with two containers worth of sauerkraut on it!

Yo, just a word to the wise, even though I'm on the late freight...

Stressing about little stuff like eating hot dogs or *gasp* cold deli meat is sort of futile. Granted, no one is saying eat these things out of a dumpster. Obviously you should exercise caution about where you get your food. But other than that, you'll be fine.

And for the record, last night I ate two hot dogs: one loaded with chili, cheese, and Fritos, and the other one was bacon wrapped. And washed it all down with a Coke. This kid is probably going to come out . . . just as awesome as the last one where I did the same type of things.

My dr also said as long as they're heated through, hot dogs are fine in moderation. I can't wait to bust out the grill, if the snow ever goes away!

Thanks to this thread hot dogs ended up on our grocery list yesterday! We got some kind from Trader Joe's that don't have any nitrites...hopefully they still taste good!

Hot dogs + baked beans + chips = yum.

Ever try chicken apple sausage? I eat them on a bun like a hotdog and they are sooooo good. I get a brand called Addell's they are nitrate free if you want to try it may satisfy your craving.

I had two dagwood dogs (I think you guys call them corn dogs?) at a music festival the other week and man they tasted good. I don't think I've enjoyed anything else so much while I've been pregnant.

My doctor told me that the cold deli meats thing is an issue, but if they're cooked not so much. He said there was a big difference between buying them in a food court where they've been sitting in a warmer all day to buying them at a music festival where they were actually too hot to eat straight away.

I went to wienerschnitzel this weekend for the all beef hot dog, then after driving wayyyyyyy out of the way, I ended up with curly cheese fries and a vanilla ice cream cone....
