D&C - Question Answered

Well I had my D & C today. Everything went well. Haven't had any cramping yet and have very minimal bleeding. But it hurts really bad to pee. It stings and burns. to the point I'm grabbing my pants in pain and almost in tears. On my last post everyone said they could pee fine. Anybody that hurt to go pee what did you do to help the pain? I dread going to the bathroom because I know what's coming.

UPDATE: As of just before bed the night of the D&C I have no longer had any pain or burning while peeing, and this morning was fine too. If it comes back I definitely plan on calling my doctor! Thanks for all the help ladies, you are all wonderful!

That sounds like a UTI to me. Did you have a cath during the procedure? Apologies for asking, but my m/c passed without a D&C...

((((Hugs)))).  I didn't have this after my D&C but I had heard from other ladies that it was painful for them after their surgery.  I would definitely suggest you call your doctor to discuss this with them.  I hope you get some answers soon!

I don't believe I did. They never told me anything about it.

I'm pretty sure that was one of the things that I was supposed to call the doctor about if it happened.  Give your doctor a call.

It went away in a day or two though. Definitely might be worth calling your doctor in case it could be an infection or something.

They never told me they had put one in so I'm not really sure. Yeah I'm definitely going to give them a call, just wanted to see if there was anything I could do in the mean time. Thank-you!

Sorry you are dealing with this I had my D&C 6 weeks ago and I told the nurse in recovery (still drugged) that my "crotch burned" and it was hard to urinate for the first time after but, it didn't burn and it didn't persist. I just wanted to share my recent expirence but, I would give your dr a call because that sounds awful and you shouldn't have to suffer all the physical pain ontop of everything else (hugs)

I never went pee while I was there, or else I would have told them what's going on. I plan on giving them a call in the morning to see what I can do. Thank-you.

They wouldn't let me leave until I did urinate and then they gave me a 24 hour number to call if there were any issues.  Can you call the office and leave a message now?  They should have someone on-call, I would think?

They never got me to do that and never gave me a number. Yea I might call and see if anyone picks up. Thanks

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I didn't have this problem with either of my D&Cs. Although, after my first Saline Ultrasound and the symptoms were pretty similar. FX you're able to get in touch with your doctor and get this sorted out.

Sounds like a UTI. Do you have a fever? That would also indicate an infection. ((Hugs)) Hope you get in touch with your doc soon.

It burned when I went for the first day I think. I honestly didn't think anything of it, so didn't call. It went away pretty quickly. Hugs!

((Hugs)) Sorry you're in pain.
I had a catheter because I wasn't allowed to get up and it was in place for 2 days. Once removed it hurt for a day or two after every time I peed.

FWIW I've had UTIs with no fever.

Hello ladies, thanks for all the advice and love.  Since the last two times I went pee yesterday (when I had the D&C) I have had no pain and burning while peeing. Such a relief. Maybe it was because of a catheter, or just because I hadn't had anything to drink in so long or hadn't gone pee in so long. I'm not really sure. If the pain comes back I plan on calling my doctor right away! Thanks for all the help. This is such an amazing group of women on this site!

FWIW I've had UTIs with no fever.

Yes it is better today. No pain or burning at all. The last 2 times I went pee last night were fine too. So it was just the first 2 pees that I had done that hurt. Thanks
