Exciting news about a new community feature!

Coming soon: Social Groups! 

What are social groups? This feature will allow members to create personalized groups, invite-only groups and private groups on The Bump. 

There will be three types of groups users can create. Social groups can be 1) public; 2) invite only to post but visible to all; or 3) private - invite only to post and invite only to view.

One thing to note: Social groups will not be moderated by The Bump, but it is expected you follow the same community rules while in the groups. Private or not, we urge you not to share any personal information.

Look out for this new feature next week!

I suppose SAIF is such a small, tight knit community this really won't impact us. But, I can't help but feeling like this is going to turn into a high school popularity contest across the boards.

Maybe this is to try to get the people who left for Facebook to come back. For anyone lurking, we miss you guys!!

I guess I could see this being nice for planning local gtg's for bumpies you know in real life, but again, that's what Facebook is for.

I agree - I would def feel hurt/left out of a group that split off from this one. Hopefully it won't impact us too much (or at all!)

@bumpjackie... two very obvious questions about security concerns....

1.
Since the boards would not be modded what is the recourse for some
troll posting personal information obtained from outside TB?

2. 
If the situation arises where personal information of a bumpie is posted
in a group where that bumpie was not invited and therefore unable to
see, what is the recourse?  How will this be handled?

I love you guys. I thought the exact same thing but thought for sure I was in the minority. Doesn't TB have a group for every conceivable (pun intended) subgroup? What else would you use a sub sub group for? Also, this feature probably doesn't affect me bc I literally just figured out how to PM a month ago so it would probably take me another 5 years to catch up.

I agree with everything said. Good point about personal information getting out too, I honestly didn't even think of that.

Hey ladies. Just wanted to let you know that TB is receiving tons of feedback about this, and they say they are reviewing it as quickly as possible, and taking these concerns very seriously. I think at least for our little board, we can just not use them and not worry about it. But I do understand that people have a lot of concerns. I hope TB is taking them as seriously as they say. I'll keep you posted on what I hear.

Thanks TJ! Agree with other ladies- I think this is a bad idea, BUT since we are a mellow, friendly, small group I don't think we will be affected.
