Oh yeah, this is a great idea and I bet no one will ever feel left out or be gossipped about. I mean some people here felt weird about the "Caribbean Babies" thing and that was public and open... 

(this isn't me calling anyone out from either side of that issue, I'm just using it as an example of how creating subgroups, even the well intended, can cause not so great feelings sometimes...)

Ugh. I hate crap like this. Yes, partly because I feel like I won't get invited to join.

Also, option 2 seems like a terrible idea, because it could easily be linked and mocked. Why would anyone choose option 2? And option 1 is pretty much just creating another board.

I'm sure part of it is that they're losing people to Facebook for month groups, but I don't think this will stop it, you'll just have the couple of Facebook groups and then the couple of private groups within the month. I can also see it being a response to boards like the South Beach that happened or even the Caribbean take-over. That way people can basically form their own boards without having to take over one that TB has set up for something else.

I still think it is a bad idea.

Oh, I'm resigning myself to the inevitable. It will happen. Off boards are pretty popular, and this is kind of an even lazier way to do it. I do think it's more likely it'll be the secret invite-only groups.

I agree with all of this. People making their own open groups (like TTGP Grads?): Yes. The private groups? I'm very wary... Maybe things will turn out okay, but I know feelings will get hurt, even if they are unintentional. And option number 2 doesn't make any sense.

FTR, you can make groups private so that people on your FB don't know you're in it.

As far as BMBs go, I do feel like end of the month (say, 20th onwards) due dates always kind of get short shrift, and I think something like this will make it worse. Because you're already coming into a board with stuff that's brand new to you but that other people have been talking about already and when you post they're so 'done' with it. Now you'll be coming in with there being at least one FB group (there's always one, and it's always the crazies that start it early) and at least one private group of the 'cool kids'. The more I think about this, the less and less I like it (and I really disliked it from the first post).
