irritated with people trying to guess gender of baby

So we are not finding out if baby is boy or girl.  Personally I don't believe in the old wives tales about gender.  So when someone looks at me and says my butt is big and I'm having a boy then I I just smile and nod.  But people get angry when you don't agree right away.

News flash - you have a 50/50 chance of being right.  Those are the best odds of your life!!!

Re: irritated with people trying to guess gender of baby

  • I guess I would be slightly annoyed that someone commented on my ass being big more then anything else. Otherwise I would just say, "Huh? Well I guess we will see."

  • I was team green the first 2 times.  I always felt that the guesses were better than other things people like to talk about with pregnant women...like labor horror stories or new born sleep ...etc.  So I would actually encourage the guesses.
  • Went through this last time with my son so have to agree - pick your battles.  And it doesn't irritate until people start getting mad.  Just a personal pet peeve:)

  • I got so sick of the repetitive conversations, but it never ends. Most people are just looking for polite small talk so I just try to not let it get to me. After boy or girl, then they start to ask about names, then try to guess when you'll "pop," all with a litany of advice about sleep (bc you can totally stockpile extra sleep in your basement while pregnant...), taking care of babies, etc.
  • The first time around I didn't mind about the guesses, especially after I knew and I would let them guess anyway.  Everyone just likes feeling like they "know".  This time around I'm getting really annoyed at the guesses.  I feel like it's based off of nothing besides their own wishes.

  • I don't mind the guesses.  I've had more than one person tell me they're always right about sex guesses.  It makes me laugh.  Obviously someone is wrong because I've had these "always right" guesses for both sexes.
  • The excited chitchat is one thing, but when someone starts saying, "I hope it's a ____!" I get irritated. You aren't going to enjoy the child because you can't dress him in pink or she'll be unable to play catch? When I inform people that I'm not finding out because it truly doesn't matter, I get looked at like I'm crazy. Yes, my sons will have a dress up box and my girls will be encouraged to play in the mud if they desire. Don't like it? You probably shouldn't have told me you'll love my child less for having the wrong genitalia.

You can always just go with the classic of "I'm not pregnant..." when they start in about what sex the baby HAS to be.  :P
And kudos for not slapping a b*tch when someone starts pointing out butt size. Rude! =D>

  • I found out but what made me so mad was when people asked me if I wanted a girl - news flash ... I wanted a baby whatever gender it ended up being didn't bother me!
