I feel so helpless

S developed a fever Sunday night. I assumed it was bc she's cutting her 4 top front teeth but something seemed off Monday so we took her to pedi. They tested for strep, RSV and flu and all were negative. Ears were clear and throat was red and she could see drainage back there. Pedi said something felt off so had us do bloodwork. Her white cell count came back slightly elevated so she said there was a secondary infection somewhere and started S on a stronger antibiotic. Monday she kept spiking 103 fevers so pedi had us start alternating Tylenol and Motrin which seemed to help. Today she was better, had a long nap, etc., but only had 4 ozs of formula and like 2 ozs of pears, 1 oz bananas and some Cheerios. She hasn't had much to drink today (sipped some on water and pedialyte) and keeps throwing up bc she gets choked on her drainage which you can hear gurgling. I feel helpless. I'm afraid she's getting dehydrated and I don't know what I can do to make her feel better.

No real point except just looking for some sympathy. Having a sick baby is the absolute worst!

I sometimes give LO pedialoyte in a med dropper while she is sleeping in my arms and she drinks it. Or pretend you are drinking and then give her some from a big cup.

I'm sorry- it IS the worst. Keep going back to the pedi as often as you need to feel comfortable that nothing more serious is going on. I hope it's over soon!

That sounds awful Poor thing!

When DS was so sick that he wasn't drinking bottles, we'd use a regular cup and straw. We even rinsed out a D&D iced coffee cup and let him use that because he always saw us using it and thought he was a big kid drinking out of it. It helped to get some fluids in him. I hope she feels better soon!!
